Grrrrrrrrrr!!! I am so fed up with this whole process.

Eventually i got a partial offer (50% £455) on 2nd July which i managed to up to £650 upon negotiation. Could not get the nice man to budge any further so i accepted the revised offer, grudgingly. Was hoping for nearer £1000!

Anyway the first part of the offer was to be in within 14 days, which is today. Have been checking every day of course, but to no avail. So i called them and they tell me it is 14 WORKING days from the revised offer. So will be the 25th of July!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GRRRR i am so mad! I told them the only reason i accepted the low offer was due to impending financial doom! and that i would like to refuse the offer now and go for 100%, she told me i couldn't do that as i had accepted, although haven't signed anything.

Is she right! By the way, the boys are evidently infinately more polite than the women dealing with these things! She was horrid!!!

Why are some people getting payments within minutes and others waiting weeks and weeks!!?

Oh i'm losing the will to live with this whole thing..... good news stories are the only thing keeping me going!
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

  • Right, today sees the start of my process with the lovely Halifax

I have written asking for my bank statements/list of charges.

I know I'm getting ahead of myself but I switched to a different bank last year: As and when I get an offer from the Halifax, can I ask for it to be paid via cheque, or into my new account?

I have just called a different number, and spoke to a completely different person who says they will process my claim for me as i said i was unhappy and had only accepted low offer for speedy resolution during a very poor month financially. He essentially asked me if i wanted to claim for any more, so i said yes, if he can process it and ask for a revised, again, offer of £1000 to be paid into my account ASAP. He said he would get someone to look at this as soon as....

Too good to be true and just telling me what i want to hear to shut me up!!!

I will weep tears of joy if this works out for the best!

  • Yes, i'll use your letter thanks - although, i haven't even had an offer yet so will wait a bit longer. do they usually send an offer at the end of their 28 days? i haven't had much correspondence from Halifax at all.

As the idea behind phoning HBOS is to settle your claim out of court they are unlikely to pay this as a partial payment. If you can't get them to up your offer you will need to start court proceedings for your full claim.

Court proceedings are indeed well underway and i will show up on the day.

I'm just unsure on wether another offer will be made closer to the court date or not?

I have a figure i'm willing to accept and they know what that is, i feel the ball is in there court now.
  • I have been bombarded with a companys calls asking me to use them urgently to get my money back, they charge a whopping 30% for doing it, and was very insistant it had to be done THIS WEEK asnext week the whole thing has been judged against and no more money can be claimed thereon. they said as long as the claim was " pre logged" it could be dealt with, anything else had no chance if this week passed. I had actually made my 1st approach to the bank of scotland 8 days ago with my £10 cheque, so 1st, would this still count, and 2nd, does anyone know if the Bank of Scotland are difficult to deal with and is there any difference as they are under Scottish Law. Replies PLEASE ASAP.
  • Total and utter rubbish. They do not know what they are talking about. Has contract Law changed? Nope. I would put yourself on the telephone preference system. It is nonsense.

EDIT: are you in scotland or england?
