1: "I thought if you didn't have an overdraft they had to refuse cheques or debits? Because of this I incurred £133 in charges. Can I reclaim these?"

2: I'm expecting more charges probably just under £40 for £2.52.

3: If I sent the unlawfully deprived letter template from this site will I get these charges back and also will they tell me I can't have my overdraft any more because of this claim?

    Hope you can help

1: They will refuse them, but then they will charge you for not having enough money in the account to pay it. It should tell you on the charges letter wether it is a paid or unpaid direct debit.

2: As it's always said, this is ridiculous the amount they charge. My brother got charged £65 for going over £1.03

3: They will probably get you to fill in a form to prove that you are in financial hardship and if they do agree and give you the charges back they will request that you use the charges to pay off any overdraft that you have with them.

Hi. I am new to the board and don't know if anyone has posted about the new HBOS charges, being £1 a day if you are under £2500 over draft and £2 per day if over that and then £5 a day if you are over your arranged overdraft.

Well this is why I am here, I don't know if I can claim that back? is this possible?
I had to deal with them last year with charges and they paid as I proved financial hardship. I am sending them a letter tomorrow to get any statements that I haven't claimed back, which I can see being well in excess of £200. I know that doesn't sound like much, but when you are a student, it's a lot.

Could someone tell me if this is possible? or even point me in the direction of the discussion if there is one already going on.

    Thanks.

You won't be able to claim back the new charges under financial hardship. And to be honest it's unlikely that you'll be able to get them back as a gesture of good will as you have had a previous refund and they will argue that you were fully aware of the charging structure and that you have failed to maintain your account.

  • Hi,

I have an account with Halifax and they are charging me £1 for everyday i am in my o/d. My o/d is £1,250 and i get paid £1,100 a month so i'm constantly living in my o/d. My bills and other dd come out of this account so i have have no way of really getting out of my o/d once i pay for day to day living. Its stressing me out now and i dont know how to get out of it if my wages are not enough. Halifax charge me about £30 each month for my o/d which i have had since 2007 is there anyway i can claim these back or get them to stop the charges??

    any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
