I don't have records. I'll sift through some old letters though and see if I can find the agreement.
Still don't understand why I need this confirmation agreement letter. If they didn't agree, why would they set it up. Do they think I hacked their system and set it up myself.
thanks for your help0 -
You need confirmation or they can confirm the exact DATES when it was set up.
Are you aware that applying for an overdraft is not a cast iron guarantee that you will receive an overdraft?
If there is no overdraft or it was not correct then you would not be asking the question in post 1.0 -

I don't think you are understanding what I am saying. I applied for an overdraft. I was sent a confirmation letter about 18 months ago. My account says I have £250 overdraft, which it has done since I received the letter.
If I didn't receive an overdraft, why am I permitted to go over by a maximum of £250?
It's like the bank saying, "here is a letter to confirm your agreed overdraft. You will now see you can withdraw up to £250 extra, but if you do, we will charge you."
What is the point in the agreement then? If I was told I would be charged each time I use £0.01p of the O/D I would never have taken one in the first place.0 -
I am in the process of registering with H Bank of Scotland online, do they show 5 years worth of statement online, if so, can i take every charge i can find and say put these charges in a spreadsheet like,
23 may 2006 charges occured £35
25 june 2006 charges occured £35
etc......... along with an accompanying letter?
Would this be suffice..........?0 -
looking at my hbos online banking, statements only go back 2 years for bank accounts and 3 months for credit cardsIt's a health benefit ...0

I thought the banks have been told they can only charge a maximum of £12 now? Anyone?
No, as far as I'm aware. Banks can still charge ridiculous amounts.

I have had a £250 overdraft for the past six months due for a review in a year with Halifax's "ultimate reward current account" I found I was often getting charged £35 as I would go slightly over every month.
I thought I would get an extension for a month to £500 so I would not get charged that month, making me £35 better off, It came to the end of June when the extension was due to come off and they decided to take the entire overdraft away without informing me, it was going to be a lean month as usual anyway but now instead of the £4 I had worked out I had spare I had
-£246 at which point they decided to let three of my usual payments go out and return another one unpaid. Racking me up a wonderful £140 of charges, I rang them of course and they were less than helpful, after speaking to the switchboard, head office and my branch I was getting nowhere so lodged an official complaint over the phone and also in writing.
A couple of days after this a £300 overdraft was randomly added on to my account which in my eyes is an admission of guilt from them but when I received a letter back from them it basically said I had insufficient funds in my account at the time so hard luck the charges stand, The charges have just been taken from my account and now I am poorer than ever, which is very poor.
Basically by trying to save £35 by not getting charged I ended up costing myself a lot more.
What a wonderful institution the Halifax is, I hope everyone has as wonderful an experience as I have.
Peace out0 -
If I could get paid cash i'd just keep it under my pillow it would be safer there0

Did they explain why the overdraft had an expiry date as most financial institutions do not follow the practice of expiry dats on overdrafts?
To my mind there has been a bank error and therefore they need to refund it. Have you written to their customer relations unit or simply your local branch?0 -
I wrote to the local branch but got the response from customer relations in Leeds.
There was a time limit on the extension but not on the original £250 but they decided they'd take that anyway charge me a bit then give me it back. What a generous bunch they are.0
