So you got an offer of over 75% over the phone  funny that i was told that offers over 75% had to be dealt with by another department ?0 -
i heard that 75% was policy now but not sure how definate that it. I think it depends on who you get on the phone. In my experience some are more pleasant and amenable than others. You'd think it was their own money some of the time!! Probably just agency staff too!
HBOS Account 1 - £650 back in charges,
HBOS 2 - pending
Capital One - £240
Egg - pending
New Look card - pending
Dorothy P's card - pending.
Thanks to all who post and give encouragement. When i meet people who aren't claiming charges i can't believe it. It should be like national service and made compulsary!!! lolI'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

I have checked through my statements and worked out that they have charged me over £800 in charges over the past few years. Could someone advise if this is correct. The letter received just seemed to be a standard letter with a photocopy signature and this was sent from Head Office.0 -
Hello all,
I am at the end of step 4 (letter threatening court action) and I have heard nothing whatsoever, is it worth a phone call or do I go straight onto step 5?
Thank You0 -

Two things Tony, can you knock the CAPS lock off and the posts you are answering are more than 6 months old so I'm guessing that neverbeten has finished his claim by now0

I was claiming £1700 from the Halifax and they have sent me a letter offering me £750. I am going to the next stage of phone negociations.

Hi there, I am new to the forums and just wanted to let you know how far I have got with Halifax, I sent the first letter as I had calculated myself what charges I was owed on 05/07/07 and I received a reply, it didnt look like an automated one dated 12/07/07. They reckon they have carried out an investigation of my complaint and were satisfied that the charges were correctly applied bla bla bla reminding me that I formed an agreement with them when opening the account so would know if I went overdrawn what the charges would be. Anyway they are seeming to be helpful by saying that Halifax will not charge you to investigate your account (I SHOULD BLOODY HOPE NOT) and that they would like to help with any further matters I have, now although it hasnt been signed in Ink, it has come from a different office to the one I set it to. So anyway, I have just ignored it and gone to the next stage, that is the second letter from Martins template threatening Court action and havent yet had a response. Did I do the right thing, or should I just have accepted it?
Please help Martin:money:0 -

Hi mleverick,
It looks to me like this is the banks final response, as they usually say they have 8 weeks to respond. I think you can now go straight to the Ombudsman
rather than wait the 8 weeks. Either that if you are going down the court route, I would carry on to the next stage,
