a week ahead of me then.. will have to keep an eye on your timings he he

2k i alot to turn down but if you can afford to wait for the extra its moe than worth it.. mines going to pay for my wedding next year so im hanging on for everything. The offer was too small to make much of an impact!

shocking about the credit card thing.. and i think you could be right about it being more than a coincidence. my credit cards with another company (Cap 1) who funnily enough have also had a MCOL issued! HSBC were nowhere near the hassle these two are turning into..

Oh well never mind.. it ll all end.... one day!

    Ash
Finally getting my finances in order

You can write and reject the offer entirely requesting it be removed rom your account or write and accept it as part settlement without prejudice and advise you will now continue to reclaim the remainder in court. The money can help finance the cost of your claim :)

Question along the same lines i guess...which many other might face...
Given the Halifax 14days letter with notice of court....and last day (today) received the following: (am claiming back £2792.44 inc interest)

As previously explained when you opened the account, you agreed to terms etc etc..... I have reviewed your account and am satisfied that the charges were applied correctly. HOWEVER, we do value our relatinship so am pleased to offer a payment of £1273.50 to be made to you. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT WE BELIEVE WE ARE UNDER ANY OBLIGATIN TO DO SO. This offer is a goodwill gesture and is in full and final settlement of your complaint. To accept dont do anything else....If you dont wish to accept please return this payment and contact me on the above number.....

SUGGESTIONS PLEASE>>>> THEY TOOK THE MONEY >> I WANT IT BACK!
Is it bargaining time...what's the best angle to use.....
Could i accept this offer, and then write to them thanking me for it....but only on the instigation of legal proceedings for the remaining...or should i make the call today to ensure clarity before it falls over completely.

Update: Rang, they upped their offer immediately to £1910.00 I declined this, and they said that this was their final offer. I thanked them very kindly, asked if they could increase...NO chance...so i said thank you, and what is the next step. They suggested the FOS, i said i would think about that, but would be instigating court proceedings MONDAY....(thought it might shake it a little) but no...she said CHEERIO!
OK COURT AND FOS on its way then.

    GOOD LUCK!

    Hey guys
I did court MCOL thingy on 25th June - Halifax said they would defend 16th July. GOT LETTER TODAY SAYING WHOLE AMOUNT GOING INTO MY BANK WITHIN 5 WORKING DAYS!!! This is my first contact with them for months! I am totally shocked £2,143.00 charges plus £534.39 interest plus £120 court costs - total £2,797.39 - Yippee!!!! I didn't bother phoning them because I was fobbed off with "the charges are lawful" before I did the court thing.Dont give up - we all seem to be treated different for some reason but this site works.
