hi sorry but does anyone know if they work saturdays !
  • Hi
Ive been following the advise on this site about claiming charges back from Halifax.

At the start of the year I requested my statements for which i had to pay £10 then wrote to them using the template letter. I got a very snotty reply back basically saying they weren't going to pay so i sent them a second letter giving them a deadline or court to which they ignored.

In the end i did't take it any further because the whole notion of going to court kinda scared me.
I regret not following through with it now, have i left it to late to start court proceedings or would i have to start all over again with the letter?

    Hey guys
I did court MCOL thingy on 25th June - Halifax said they would defend 16th July. GOT LETTER TODAY SAYING WHOLE AMOUNT GOING INTO MY BANK WITHIN 5 WORKING DAYS!!!

Well done, good on you.

I'm still fuming over the fact that Halifax card services have dropped my credit limit within £25 of my balance even though i only went a few pounds over my limit last month, please note i have not been late on a payment this year and paid in an extra £1000 last month as well  I have now written to them asking for Card statements, which i did'nt consider to do until my limit was dropped.

Way to go Halifax push customers into claiming  :T

No its not too late hun you asked for statements you totalled it up then asked for it back so i'd now send the threat of court letter. The money's yours so get it back.
    Good luck

Just remember you do not have to go to court - the FO is another viable option that is also proving successful. Go fo it. I agree with catoxley - the money is yours!

Personally, I wouldnt push for the interest since legally they dont have to give it to you but id push for the rest of your charges total. its your money, after all

i have just been told they can now start your claim over the phone too....

To cut a long story short halifax have been allowing an amount to be charged from my card for the last 3 years which they dont have my authorisation to do.It all started about 4 years ago for a sports channel on sky, this channel became defunct but the company are still charging my card every month even though the F1 channel no longer exists, sky wont help as it isnt their company, the phone number that appears next to the amount on my statements is a dud one, and the fraud department arent interested even though this company has incorrect card details (have had 8 cards since and changed my name!) because they said i gave it to them in the first place which is laffable, so basically it doesnt matter what is on your card as long as your account number stays the same they can have your money!.anyway i was phoning up to question once again why they have allowed this amount to be taken from my card yet again which has now left me overdrawn and then i get charged yet again £39 for an email !! and why i still havent recived my statements/charges list that i requested in may and again on july 1st!
I was then told by this lovely woman called Tasha.. that she could start off my claim over the phone for my bank charges back while i was wating for everything else to apear so i would be nearer the front when i knew exactly how uch i wanted to claim... and that its quicker!
she said by doing it over the phone they normally get it all sorted within 4 weeks and if i wasnt happy with what i was offered to call them up and then to negotiate or to forward it to the financial ombudsman...or court route...

so time will tell... i have just had 3 copies of the usual 40 days rubbish even though mine has gone past 80 days on the first request and now is coming up to 20 on the second.....
fingers crossed got a feeling its gonna be a long haul... i know they owe me at least 2k off the statements i have got fromt he last 18 months..another 4 years to check!!

i could be going on a nice holiday!

shame they arent as efficient as first direct , we claimed £1800 off them for my hubby and it only took a week from start to cash in his account!!

    UPDATE 23/7/07
Had my follow up letter after the "negotiation" on the phone. Was expecting the amount to be in the letter, but it was more of a "we make these charges which we feel are reasonable", followed by "please go to the Financial Ombudsman for more information". NOW.....whilst i made the call to the bank to follow it up again, i thought i would try and change tack from pleasant to NOT pleasant.

I suggested that as both offers were [FONT=&quot]Derisory and the Halfiax were repaying other peoples charges in full, why was i being penalised. Furthermore, i felt that the halifax were stalling for time, and i was prepared to negotiate this matter on the phone. The lady explained "THATS A FULL AND FINAL OFFER & WE WONT BE NEGOTIATING...." so i mentioned court again, and of course, the reply was "WELL YOU CAN OF COURSE GO DOWN THAT ROUTE".
    Guess what.......i am going to..................
THE FOS could suggest claiming back anything over £12 which they feel is a reasonable charge, but as MARTIN has already said "charges are unlawful and there is no agreed cost for these...." so its MCOL for me.......
HALIFAX are a pain in the ar** and it appears they are happy to get customers to spend more money in the hopeful event that they wont pay up".
    FEEDBACK WHEN AVBAILABLE.

Could this have anything to do with that chap and Natwest at the end of this month.
