Halifax offered quarter of my settlement offer!!
I have £2400 in charges (with interest) and Halifax have only offered £596, I offered to settle on £2000.
Should I pursue the claim further or is a quarter all i should expect??
Anyone fought past such a low offer and won??0 -
Im very new to this site so sorry for any mistakes,I'm trying to claim my bank charges with the halifax, I've sent for my statments and the 40 days was up last week. I followed with a call and was told they would duplicte my request with a email to the admin staff as i couldn't  as there was nothing on there system at all. Don't really no where to go next any help would be gratful.
Ring again & ask when you can expect them, tell them if they arent ALL with you within 7 days you will take the matter further, alternatively go into your local branch & ask them to print them, if they say no demand they do

UPDATE:
Let it not be said that 'standing your ground' does'nt have its rewards
We got the letter today offering the full amount including the court fee, of course HBOS deny any wrong doing etc etc.
When i turned down the 75% which was more than 2k i thought i had gone beyond what was reasonable and spent several sleepless nights worrying, but in the end it was worth it.
I still have 3 more claims to put in, but im on a high right now.
Congratulations!!!!!! Bet thats great news! Did they give you any idea how long it would take to pay you?
Mine was acknowledged yesterday so now Ive just got to sit and wait!

guys hope someone can help- made request for my statements by phone on 22nd May, was told I will be sent a list of charges instead.
ONthe 63rd day ( 45th working day) I rang and told them of my disgust that they had not got back to me. Have now reiceved a letter-(on the 47th working day) ' thank you for you recent complaint, have carried out an investigation in to the charges and am satisfied they have been correctly applied'
What??? I havent even complained yet. My guess is this is just a standard letter but I still dont have my charges that I requested. Rang number at top of page and explained situation, guy said that he could only email department and mark as case of urgency to get my statements out and that the letter I recieved must of been a clerical error ! Yeah right !!!
I dont know what to do now- should I have just appealed the decision ( even though I never requested my charges back in the first place? Was it the wrong thing to do still requesting my statements??

Hello,
Any idea how I can get the money in my account any quicker, I have been waiting for so so long (over 2 weeks now and I am getting annoyed!!)?
Cheers

I phoned them and told them the reason i'd settled for lesser amount was for a speedy resolution and if the money was not in my account withing 24hours, i would be rejecting their offer in writing and going ahead for full amount, interest and costs. The money was paid in within 20minutes!
But be nice, it's never the person on the phone who is stalling. It's the corporate machine!!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Hello,
I will try that tomorrow but am just put off by all this talk of new guidelines!! I posted them the email the FO sent me though seen as they don't seem to be aware of that....I am hoping that may speed them up a little:) I want to book my holiday...
Thank you

I recently applied for refund on bank chargesonly to be told we've been declined, Taking into the fact we have been with the Halifax for over 27 years + we have a loan & mortgage with them I thought they would be more understanding yet they are not.0

Hey i'm new to this but basically i'm claiming £3500. I got the usual story of requesting my bank statements, sending them to tthe bank, getting refused, went to Omnbudsman, they came back saying they would go to the bank and get in touch with me when they had any updates. However i recieved a letter from thema few weeks ago telling me that in most cases the banks will repay. Haven't heard anything since and now that this ruling has come into play, does this mean that my claim is voided/suspended?
And if so what does the future hold for my claim, whats the timeline etc?
Would really appreciate feedback asap from anyone thats in the same boat.
Cheers
