it would seem that the halifax have been playing me for the fool, i put in to claim my bank charges back on the 30th april, but they just kept sending me letters saying they are dealing with my request, still had no statements, so managed to find a telephone number for complaints (eventually!) you need to be cleverer than miss marple to find it!! and spoke to this very nice lady that said my statements were on there way, but they are not paying anyone out at the moment, due to a memo they have had from head office, she was no use at all really:mad: so rather than getting angry with her, i wondered if anyone could help and tell me what i should be doing next??0

Hi
Just spoke to someone at Halifax Customer Relations, i explained that i had an offer of a third of what i was asking and would it be possible to have my case looked at again. She took my number and said she needed to speak to her superviser. After a couple of minutes she rang back to say they would not be looking into anyones case who have had an offer - basically Take it or Leave it. I asked if i could accept the offer 'without prejudist', and she said any offer will only be made as 'full and final settlement' and that i have 2 weeks to decide as the money will be put into my account on 7th August.
Well it was worth a try. I would hold off a day or so before making up your mind and lets see what else happens over the rest of this week and then you would need to decide if its worth your while accepting the offer or refusing and waiting it out.0 -
I think it will be better to wait aswell, gives me more time to decide. Thanks0

Hi - can anyone help totally fed up of HBOS stalling techniques. I requested at the beginning of June staments for my account that I currently have and credit card which was paid off last year but did not have any account details for. I also sent a separate letter for an old Halifax account which I no longer had any account details of. I received a letter from HBOS stating that I would hear from them within the 40 days but this was not the case. This morning I received two letters - the first one for my current account and credit card asking me for my acc no and sort code which I provided and also full details of my address which I also stated on my letter. They also has the cheek to ask me for the correct payment after cashing the cheque I enclosed from my current account. The other letter for my old account is asking for my account number and sort code which I explained in my initial letter I no longer have access to. They also returmed the tem pounds cheque for this letter. Can anyone please advise what I do next and if I have to send new details does this mean that the bank then have the full 40 days again to respond?0

I have been pursuing my charges through the Halifax for MONTHS now, and they have messed me around NO END!! This seems so unfair, they have obviously been stalling for this test case to come up. I have given them the 14 days to settle before I start court proceedings, which are now up......does this mean I can't do anything now until this 'test case' is over??0

montgomery44, send them whatever details they ask for if you have them and point out that they do only have 40 days to provide the information and this doesn't start again from now but from when they first received your letter and that you will report them to the ICO and the FO if they don't get the information out to you now.
joeblack066, you now need to start court action either via MCOL or your local court. The bank may consider all claims are on hold but the courts do not.0 -
Hey im new here
Im with halifax and have been for years, I had £7.60 coming out of my account by Tesco insurance. They tried to take it out but it did as I had no money in their or no over draft.
I phoned halifax and they said I wouldnt be changed that time.
I happened again, the money bounced again and halifax charged me £39.00 yesterday, I have spoken to halifax and they have said theres nothing they can do, but there might be someone on here who can help me.
Also I was with Barcleys a few years ago (about 4) and they charge me loads of time sover 2 years for cheques bouncing. I think it was about £50.00 everytime one bounced, can I reclaim that?
I hope this is in the right place thanks x0 -
I am about to request my statements for my Halifax credit card, but am unsure who to make the £10 cheque payable to - can anyone help? Many thanksMFW

Hi everyone
Around 3 years ago, I had 3 failed Direct Debits on one day charges @ £39 each. I wrote to the Halifax explaining that I was in a bad financial situation at the time and offered to pay them back in installments rather than one amount. I received a letter confirming they would waive the charges as a gesture of good will.........
More recently I have been corresponding with them regarding claiming back 5 years worth of bank charges which they promptly knocked back (with their standard letter, didn't answer any specific questions i asked). I debated this and have now received a final letter from them saying that because they refunded my charges 3 years ago, they will not do it again.
Can anyone please shed some light on this for me? Are they telling the truth or are they fobbing me off (again!)? The charges I believe I am due come to just over £1000.0 -
:rotfl: HALIFAX
CLAIMED £1013 PLUS INTEREST.
After several letters to the Halifax, several of which were ignored and finally a letter saying their charges were legal I decided to take your advice and go to the ombudsman. After a letter from the Ombudsman the Halifax deciaded they would rather pay the £1013 than be investigated further. I finally received a letter today saying this money would be in my account in the next fewdays.:T :rotfl: :rotfl:0
