:rotfl: HALIFAX
CLAIMED £1013 PLUS INTEREST.
After several letters to the Halifax, several of which were ignored and finally a letter saying their charges were legal I decided to take your advice and go to the ombudsman. After a letter from the Ombudsman the Halifax deciaded they would rather pay the £1013 than be investigated further. I finally received a letter today saying this money would be in my account in the next fewdays.:T :rotfl: :rotfl:
Can I asked you when you got your letter from the ombudsman. I got my offer yesterday from the BOS through the FOS and it says it will be paid within 6 weeks. Was hoping I wouldn't have to wait thet long, but knowing the BOS, they have taken everything to the wire in my claiming process,

I doubt it - the FO has all but ceased to deal with bank charges claims.Reclaimed thanks to this site:

Hi
I spoke to BOS today re 1st stage of claiming back charges(been out of the country!!!!!).
They told me everything has been frozen due to current court case could take up to a year. I still asked them to send me out list of charges and was told would take up to 40 days. Is this true or are they just trying to fob me off.
Any advice appreciated.0 -
The bank are allowed 40 days to produce the information/statements so yes its true.0

Hi all
I am a very new user to the forums so please don't bite. This is my very first post.
I am at the stage with Halifax that they sent me a letter offering me just over £1,500 when they owe me just over £2,300.
I sent a letter back last Thursday declining the offer wanting the full amount with a response in 14 days or I will proceed with the court, I am now worried that with all this business going on with the test cases that I have made a big mistake of refusing the money as OH says I wont get the full amount now.
What shall I do, can I ring them and accept their offer or do I wait.
Confused, please help, thank you.

I would think it is very likely that they will say the offer is no longer on the table as you have turned it down. However if you are quick tomorrow you may get in before the department concerned has received you letter and you might be able to accept it. Do make sure you follow this up in writing and send special delivery if they allow you to accept the offer.
If they say no then you have to start court action for your full claim.0 -
I am claiming the best part of £4000 from Halifax PLC. I have just received a letter dated 25th July offering £1785.50 as a 'gesture of goodwill'. The letter also says that this is in full and final settlement.
As the letter is dated before recent events what advice would you give please?0 -
I received a reply from HBOS dated 24th July offering me £888.50, (which is 50% of my total claim, less interest). as full and final settlement. This money was deposited in my account yesterday. I phoned the 01977 number yesterday (before I realised the money was in my account), and a young man informed me that I had to accept the money in full and final settlement or not at all. Is this true? He told me that I had 2 months to decide, and if I decide not to settle, that I would have to return the money to them. Can I now write to them and say that I would like to accept the money without prejudice, as part payment? If they refuse, can they take the money back from my account? Any advice would be gratefully received.0

I really dont understand all this jargon thats happened in the last few days and please dont tell me to read through the forums cos i really am daft and already tried. So just answers in laymans terms would be great
.
All i want to know is what happens next in light of this new news.
Right my claim is through MCOL and halifax aknowledged the claim and have 28 days to put in defence which brings the date 27th august. But because of whats happened will it still carry on or will all this be stopped.
Just a simple explanation please.0
