I want to Switch from Tiscali broadband to Bt option 3, am i better doing this on-line or actually phoning BT?0
-
No such luck for me, call the 0800 number, asked for code as I was thinking of moving to another company. To my surprise the guy gave it to me over the phone with no questions asked.
Any ideas on what I should do?0 -
Thats odd, means the advisor was crap. Just phone and ask for a cheaper deal. Be honest, its easier. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 20

Well I asked for my MAC Code and to see about getting a better deal and the guy was willing to give the code straight away but said he had some retentions deals, so I asked what they were.
He offered upgrade from Option 2 to Option 3 (unlimited downloads) for £19.99pm on an 18 month contract. He wouldn't give me a new hub, or phone or BT Vision (even though I was promised that last time). Then he said the only other deal is unlimited downloads with a free laptop but I'd have to sign up for 36 months!!!! 3 YEARS!!!! and pay £24.99 (which is much more expensive than AOL and their free laptop deal).
So I said I'd be interested in unlimited downloads but I don't think it's worth £20pm espicially with better deals and that my BT connection kept messing up over the months. He said £20 was the cheapest, so I got my MAC Code and I'll be moving over to Be for only £14pm for the same service as BT!!!
Is really annoying as I've been with BT since 2000 and obviously there is no deals for being loyal. So bye bye BT.!.0 -
I've been with BT for a year on option 3.. just phoned retentions to ask for my MAC code and was told I could have option 3 for £19.99 a month and free BT Vision.
I've got Sky+, sod BT vision
Next offer was 6 months free broadband, followed by normal rates for a year (18 month contract)
Now, assuming that after 6 months they were going to charge me the normal £24.99.. 12 x £24.99 = £299.88, divide by 18 = £16.66 average per month.
Frankly, i think the broadband phone is rubbish, i don't have anything small and wifi so I don't use that either
By bye BT.... I wonder what's a good alternative0 -
Hi
A friend has just moved into a new rental flat and got the BT line enabled. She would like wireless broadband but doesn't want a contract longer than 12 months but BT Total BB Option 1 has an 18month lock-in period if you want the 'free' BT Vision box. Also the monthly rate is more expensive than many other providers. Any ideas on the best way to proceed when calling BT? Any other providers I can quote better deals with to see what they can do?0 -
Just found this forum/thread and found it very interesting-it is great when someone can be a s helpful and as honest as Drunkstar.
I was with BT on dial-up until last December when I was going to change companies for Broadband. I phone BT and spoke to one of his colleagues and asked for my MAC number. I ended up with a helpful rep and signed up for 12 months on Option 3 with a £5 discount (from £26.99).
I have been happy with the service, especially the online help on the very odd ocassion. However, I always look around at the end of any 'deal' to see what is available, and change if I can get better. I will be in touch with BT (and other companies) in the next few days.0 -
Pl,which number do you ring to ask for deals? My contract is due to expire in mid March, I guess, it is too early to ring BT. Thanks0

I have just come off the phone from ringing BT to get my MAC code with the full intention of moving providers (probably to SKY)
I was given the code but was enticed nito staying with BT by Option 2 broadband for £14.99 a month (am paying 24.99 a month at present) plus a free home-hub and phone and free BT vision on a 12 month contract. Sounds good to me!!0 -
Hi Drunkstar, wonder if you can help. My BB is up for renewal this month. I am currently on Option 2, with the free UK Evenings + Weekend calls. I already have BT hub and phone and Sky+ (no need for BT vision). What options do I get if I call your number? Thanks in advance!!!0
