B.T. cheaper deals

  • BT Broadband must either be desperate for customers or have more money than sense. My 12 month broadband contract with them expired months ago and they have consistently called me each month at least a couple of times to offer me the opportunity to stay with them for a further 12 months. I must be stupid because I have not had the time or inclination to grab this money saving offer and at the same time pick up a 'free' gift of a printer, mp3 player or a digital picture frame.

Still have not made my mind up but if anyone is interested BTare offering all of the above plus a reduction of £4 a month off the current £26.98 for Option 3

Just rang BT and they didnt seem to offer very much! We are out of contract and thinking of moving broadband provider
£5 off our option three and that was that! - no freebies as mentioned!

Will have to give it some thought.....

I just rang up and pretended to request my MAC code because BT was too expensive and I wanted to move to Virgin Media 3 for 3 service. I already have BT Vision by the way.

The chap said let's just have a chat and see if we can make it cheaper for you.

He initially offered me £5 off per month which would have brought my Option3 down to £19.99 for 12 months. I said, "that's great, a fiver off - by the way I want to downgrade to Option 2 so that's make it £15.99 p/m"

    He said "go on then"

I then pretended to have a think about it and just said
"any chance you can throw in one of the new Hubs because the reception on mine isn't great"

He went of to check and threw that in for free too. Chanced my arm for a new Hub phone too but I think he realised I was on the make and aid I'd have to pay for it.

Really happy with that (after bad experience with other providers in the past I love BT).

Best of all, I actually thought I had another 5 months of my contract left as I thought I'd signed up for 18 months and it was only because BT's (out-sourced) retention people called up offering a measly £2p/m discount and a free MP3 or Photo frame.

I'm feeling overlly pleased with myself.

When we renewed our contract last year ( option3) we argued the point too.

Got option 3 for £18.99 a month instead of the £24.99, hub phone and Vision all for a 12 month contract.

I would have thought that they would have offered you more. It seems that they arent as flexible as they used to be.

We too are out contract and looking around for a better deal...

Definately ask for the hub phone - if you have an old white hub I reckon they'd more inclined to offer you one as the new black hub is probably going to replace it over the next year or two.

If you don't have BT Vision it's well worth getting too - if only for a free DVR!
  • I just ended up with a new 12 month contract with BT. I wanted homeplugs as my house is a bit iffy for wifi reception and my hub is miles away from my computer as it had to be beside my vision box. Anway... they are giving out the "homeplug" I know they are not the homeplug standard but similair type devices to new vision customers so I gave them a story about how I got vision a year ago when this option wasnt available and my hub is in an awkward position blah blah and was told quite bluntly that I would have to pay 80 squids for the power line adaptors as they are only available to "new" customers..

Phoned the braoadbad folk up to find out when my contract ends and they seemed very keen to keep me. Got the usual 5 quid off plus they arranged to get a set of the powerline adapters on a 12 month contract. What they didnt know was that I had no intention on leaving. Wouldnt give me a hub phone but to be honest I would rarely use the thing.

All in all pretty pleased. I have never had any issues with BT and am happy to stay with them until such time as they start playing up.

One year since the last time I followed the advice on this thread and still just as relevant for my latest renewal.

£5 pm off again and new hub, which suits me fine
    Thanks again. Appreciate it.
  • Just tried today. Original BT option 3 expired last month.
Requested MAC code as I was thinking of switching to O2 for £17 amonth.
I live in a rural area and SKY etc dont have their equipment in my exchange yet so I cant get the benefits of a combined deal.

Anyway the young lass offered me £3.00 off. I said no I was moving so she offered me an 18 month contract with the first 6 months free & £22.50 a month thereafter. Making it around £16 a month overall.

Sounded good so I took it.
  • Tonight I phoned BT, broadband contract just expired.

Told him about Orange deal £14.67 (i think) which includes line rental and Broadband if Orange customer which I am. I was paying £14.99 broadband option1 and normal line rental £12??.

Anyway they almost matched Orange deal and with £1.23 paperless billing discount makes it £14.37 for broadband option1 and line rental!!

Im very happy and thats with being on hold about 10 mins whilst he sorted a deal out!
