we cant get a lot of them around here...and on here every ISP seems to have caused people problems.

Basically its between Tiscali BT and Talktalk..and BT seems not to have quite so many problems as far as I can tell

AOL were more expensive than BT

Not true, you need to read more posts, you can get a good quality ISP with a one month contract, of course they are not as cheap as some, however you only get what you pay for with BB in general terms.

Do a BB comparison of some of the smaller ISP's at ThinkBroadband, you will be amazed at the difference to many of the big names.

    Hi Drunkstar
Sorry for the delay to your reply to my message 3-03-08.
I was just making a statement about my experience with the COT.

Do you know anything about the amount of people BT put on a line/band. Someone told me 50/1, as this makes the difference in speed also on your line. I`m told Business people could get down to 20/1, a faster connection.
    Thanks

    Fair enough mate.

Yeah, BTs residential contention ratio is (I am told) 50-1, no clue about the business though. Sorry.

Anyone managed to get BT Option 1 recently for less than £11.99 a month (12 month contract), with or without freebies? Or is that rock bottom?

    Cheers...

I have BT Broadband and phone (not sure which option we're on though as dh organised it and he's fast asleep at the moment)! We are only halfway through an 18 month contract (we got a free laptop as an incentive to take this). I've just found out about BTVision and, as our rented house doesn't have a decent TV aerial and we're sick of watching all our programmes though fog and stutter (I know Corrie's up North but didn't realise it snowed there even in summer) I'm wondering if BTVision might be good for us. We've never had Sky or anything before (and with a rented house doubt our landlord would want dishes installed anyway) so I've no idea what the costs of these sort of things are. We'd just like to be able to watch decent reception freeview TV and I'm sure my sons and dh would enjoy the sport and I'd like the films.

BT are advertising a deal that includes the full package of BTVision (including Setanta Sport with a one-off payment of £10) for £14 per month and they provide a free HD ready BT Vision V-box that records programmes in the deal. Does this sound good value? If we have to move before the end of the contract for BTvision can we just transfer it to our new home? Any opinions gratefully received.

To get decent Freeview reception, you need a proper outdoor aerial in most cases, so BTVision is not for you unless you get a decent aerial.

RATS! Foiled again! I assumed that because it was coming from my home hub I didn't need an aerial as well.... shows what a technophobe I am! :o

    Thanks for letting me know.
