My experience so far with BT COT department
1st call - October - lady answered - I asked for MAC number - lots of offers - I finally accepted option 2@ £17.99
Confirmation letter followed - but was for £19.99 not £17.99
2nd call - lady - said I should not have been offered that as it was wrong - offered to upgrade me to option 3 at £19.99 plus tried offering other add ons but in the end when I decided to leave BT she found a new deal that had just come on her screen - this time even cheaper at £16.99 which I again accepted.
Confirmation letter followed - but was for £19.99 again not £16.99
3rd Call - spoke to Kevin from Doncaster - went through everything - he said letters were just flung out by computer but that my deal was indeed £16.99 and there shouldn't be a problem with billing - said he typed comments on my file about confusion caused by wrong letters being sent.
28th November Billing updated - not £16.99 but £19.99
4th call - on Frid 6.00 ish 30th November - spoke to Malik - confirmed it was £16.99 - he sent email asking for charge to be put right and told me they would phone within 5 days when it was done
I've heard nothing
My feelings now are that the COT people seem very helpful when you speak to them but what they are telling you does not actualy happen once it leaves their department.
I'm starting to feel that I will continue to be told what I want to hear until they hope I will give up and go away.0 -
Sounds very much like my experience, except in the end they admitted they could not provide what was promised, cancelled my contract and gave me my MAC code!!0

A follow up to my post;
Just phone COT - they confirmed the £16.99 then put me through to billing who also confirmed the £16.99 but told me the £3 reduction is credited one month in arears.
So, seems I will be getting the correct deal after all :-)
(though will check in next bill to make sure!!)0 -

Maisy, is your contract with another ISP or BT? Is your line with BT? Is an unlimited package really right for you? How much do you download?

You need to be able to get Freeview for Vision to work. I would reccomend taking option 2 on teh BB (13.99 for 6 months then 22.99 for 12). Line rental anytime call is £18.95 PCM, unless you take option 1 line rental £11, and broadband talk anytime at 4.95 (basicly its a VOIP system). Oh the wireless would be 25 if ordered over teh phone, but take that BB package on the net and its free.
Hope that helps. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 20 -
Drunkstar, I hope you don't mind me asking you for advice but I'm thinking of switching from BT to talk talk as I *think* I will be better off?!
I currently have BT phone option 3 @ 48.39 per 1/4 and BT broadband option 2 at 58.69 per 1/4, with VAT this = some £41 per month, if I've got my facts right the same sort of deal with talk talk would be £20.49 per month, quite a saving, though I know I will have some cancellation fees to BT for not staying the 12/18months, I'd just appreciate any advice/comments from you before I go ahead, please!
Thanks,

Sure, as far as your contract goes how long have you had your line? how long the BB? Have you any special offers on?
Just as a note please remember I am not an official representative of BT on here so dont give me any private info, remember this is an open forum. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 20
