    Just one more question...

Does the BT home hub come with a phone? Or do you have to buy that separately?

The phone is usually an optional extra. I got mine free with Option 3, but i think i'm paying £5 a month for its use. Either way, i get an extra line in the house and evening and weekend calls are free. The wife can chat for as long as she wants now. :)

Subsequently, with that phone she's reduced her mobile tariff as she doesn't use it in the evenings now.

The Hub phone can be bought seperately possibly cheaper on eBay.. look around or ask them to give you one.. worst they will say is no :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you're paying £4.95 a month, then you must be on the "anytime" plan, which means you can make unlimited UK calls for up to an hour each at ANY time, not just evenings & weekends...

If you're only making free evening & weekend calls, there should be no monthly charge...?

  • DRUNKSTAR you are a marvel. Been lurking for weeks until I was out of my Option 1 contract (£25pm) and did as you advised. Ended up with:

Option 3 (£30pm including telephone line rental)
    Free hub
    Free telephone
Free wireless vision (free installation, free 12 month subscription)

It appears to be more money per month, but it's only £5 over what we already pay. We get a lot more for our money!!! Very happy and a BIG thank you.

You've got me thinking now. I think i need to check my call plan. Hopefully a call to BT isn't in order. :)

Thanks Drunkstar. I've now saved £60 a year for my Option 2 broadband.

    You definitely deserve a pint!

I have been lurking here for a while, very interested in this topic as our contract was about to expire.( option 3)
Following Dunkstars advice I rang BT yesterday and was amazed at what i was offered!!
Stay on option 3 at £19.99 instead of £22.99. Free home hub and phone. free BT vision and installation etc etc.
    great stuff!!
    Thanks!!!

Having got a great BT deal (Thanks Drunkstar again) and my BT vision installed yesterday (excellent service from a top BT engineer). I'd like to ask Drunkstar 2 further questions.

My Homehub still gives my Broadband speed as 2Mb instead of the potential 6.5Mb promised. I understand this may take a while to "kick in" but what's the best phone number to call to chase this?

My new bill is charging me at the old rate but guess not "kicked in" there either as only a few days since installation.

Also, I would like to send a letter to BT congratulating them on their excellent BT Vision engineer. I can only find facilities to complain. Advice please!

    Thanks.

Sod that then, when your contract has 2 months left on it ring 0800800880 option2. They can give you £5pcm off and the free hub. Plus the £5 off is off of the new price for option 3 which is £24.99. So that will be £19.99
    Hey Drunkstar,

Just thought I'd give you a follow up on this. I called today and did as you said; I got the £19.99pm deal and they are throwing in BT Vision fully installed for free. I don't really need the BT Vision, but it's worth having a look.

    Thanks again,

    Bear
