Oh no, it was nothing serious at all, I have no intention of seeing him again - plus he lives in a different city!

I was talking to him in the pub and he seemed very nice (and absolutely gorgeous). He asked for my number at one stage and I said no. Then at the end of the night, he asked if I wanted to go for chips. I said yes.

So we wandered off to the chippy, and en route kept talking and laughing, and suddenly he took my hand, and we stopped, and he kissed me. And it was lovely. I'm glad that I did it. I haven't had a real physical attraction in such a long, long time. It was flattering, confidence-boosting and FUN.

And that was that. No follow-up, no complications, just a nice memory that put a smile on my face the following day. :D I'm glad that it happened.

    Brilliant :T:T:T:T:T
It's about time you had some fun ;)
I said to my friend the other day I do not want another man in my life but I'm up for a bit of fun if it comes along ;) I might be old but I ain't in my dotage yet!!!!!

It's good to hear you sounding so positive :D xx

Personally, Id have taken his number, another city or not, at the very least you might have made a new friend out of it.

Thats these days Id have taken his number, in times gone by I probably wouldnt have.

I suppose you're right Pauline! I was just 100% 'in the moment', which I haven't been for a long time, and I didn't even think beyond that evening. It was a nice feeling. :o

Tongues? Only joking!! :D:D Good for you, about time you had a bit of fun!

    :rotfl::rotfl:

    Thanks Hezzawithkids!

Glad you are ok Tay, we were getting a bit worried about you.

In the circumstances I think that a move will be cathartic for you. I too did that (had to sell the family house anyway) but once i'd got my very own home, bit by bit I replaced everything which was 'ours' previously. This was everything from the bed to the last teaspoon.

Thanks spirit, and sorry again for being MIA. I agree, I'm warming to the idea of moving, even though it will be an upheaval. I'll start looking around soon.

Good thinking on replacing everything - although most of the stuff in this house is mine rather than ours i.e. I owned it before I met him, or bought it myself.

    How are you? xx

Yay! Real progress, and not giving him your number probably the best idea - but what a great confidence booster. Go you!

And BTW, really pleased to see you back :)

Yes, it was a great boost :D Who'd have thought, 4 months ago, that I'd be doing such a thing? Definitely not me.

Go for it Tay - have some fun...

Strategy tips? One is to become more organised (I'm terrible). I've bought myself a planner - old fashioned write on planner as I fail miserably with electronic planning and record keeping.

I've also written myself a 'work timetable'. That means I know exactly what I'm doing in my free time during and after school. If everything is not done in that time then I'm allowing 4 hours on a Sunday. If it's not done then, it's not getting done.

I'm learning to say no. I've always known that the more you do, the more you're expected to do. If I can't get something done, then I will just have to say no. Simple.

Make sure I spend quality time with my family. Nothing at all work related after 6pm weeknights, all day Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

Stop feeling guilty about work. I will never please my boss - so as long as I know I'm working hard then that will be enough.

We'll see come September whether or not that will work. But that's how I'm planning for now.

Wow, that's excellent. I'll be taking some of your tips on board, thank you xx

Lol, a bit of fun is very welcome after what we've been through!!!

It hasn't all been plain sailing, but I'm feeling positive and taking one day at a time. If I can squeeze in some fun as well, then all the better. Good for you, I like your attitude :)

I'm doing ok thanks, MMM. :o

God, I've missed you lovely people and this thread. The internet connection at my mum's is awful. Sorry that I've been away for a bit.

I'm finally starting back to work this week. I'm meeting my boss tomorrow and going into the office on Tuesday. Frankly, I'm terrified, but I'll be fine - I keep telling myself that, anyway. :o

Ahhh. I have sooooo many thoughts drifting around my head, I need to organise them and then I'll put them down here in a (hopefully) coherent manner!

The last few weeks have been strange. I so needed a few months off over the summer - it was a time to recharge and rest. I'm not sure if I've had any huge epiphanies, but I've certainly appreciated each and every day. My family have been amazing, I can't thank them enough. They've picked me up and put me back on my feet.

So, here I am, back in my house for a few days. It's so quiet, but I'm focusing on the positives - peace and quiet, space, freedom.

When I go back to work, I don't want to get stuck in a rut, so I've promised myself that I'm going to live life to the full. I work 37 hours a week, but there are a LOT of hours for enjoyment. I am going to do something outside the house at least one evening a week.

As a first step, I've signed up to Meetup.com, and I'm going to my first event on Tuesday (a talk on a subject I'm interested in). It's nerve-wracking but I'm looking forward to it too.

I'm going to buy some new clothes, and look after myself - eat well, sleep well and get plenty of exercise. I have a hair appointment in a couple of weeks. That'll do for starters. :)

And how are all of you doing? Well, I hope.

    xxxx
