tay glad to see that you are still moving forward and yes i agree the next best step will be to return to work and I am sure that when you get back to your routine you will even feel better. It will be hard going back to work but as I said earlier you should be allowed a phased return by working perhaps a few days a week of shorter days to get you back into it gently. It will be hard at first but after a while you will feel grateful to be back work with people around you who care for you.

Two months today since I dumped my ex... overall I've done really well.
Have you ever!
Sorry to hear about your mum's diagnosis. There is some good advice on the few previous posts and to throw in my two penn'orth - don't try and second guess the GP by looking for something that contradicts the diagnosis. If the GP says it's a couple of spots which will not get worse, take it at face value - no point in upsetting yourself unnecessarily
Two months eh? Go you! :T0 -
Hi tayforth,
Congratulations on your wonderful progress in the past 2 months (and the lead up to that), sorry to hear about your mum but as you say, it could be worse. It looks as if you're getting some good advice/links here.
Re your insomnia - are you taking any medication? Because I'm taking anti depressants at present and they've affected my sleep quite a lot...apparently it's a recognised side effect.
Take care of yourself, keep on keeping on

Sorry about your Mum's emphysema.
You didn't mention a possible cause for emphysema, but there must be one. This is quite a good explanation: http://www.webmd.boots.com/smoking-cessation/emphysema
As you can see, there has to be a reason. Industrial disease, having worked in a polluted atmosphere? Or - most commonly - smoking. If the latter, stop!Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Hi Margaretclare
If you read back to post 1878 Tayforth said her mum had been a smoker for years implying that she has now stopped.0 -

Sorry about that. I didn't read back that far! Apart from industrial disease, smoking long-term is by far the commonest cause of this. If she's now stopped there can be some recovery and hopefully it won't progress any further. However, I have known people who had this diagnosis and in fact much worse than Tayforth's mum, who didn't stop! You'd hardly believe it, but I saw it during my past career in the health services. Incredible but true. I even met a man who was on oxygen in his home and who still smoked - I was a district nurse then. It's known that the lungs can recover, or at least get no worse, but he wouldn't believe that.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Thank you all so much for your wonderful comments and words of encouragement. I'm deeply touched. I can't believe that it's been 2 months either, it's been a blur.
Yes, Mum stopped smoking years ago, thank goodness. If she hadn't, she'd be a lot worse off. And thanks for the pep talk, Alpha58 - I promise to take the diagnosis at face value and not worry unnecessarily.
One more week until I go back to my house. I'll be seeing the occupational health people that week or the week after, and then I'll get back to work, hopefully on a phased return. I'm determined to get my life back on track, and back to normal.
But I'm also trying to think about what I really want out of life. We only get one life, and I'm not sure that I'm making the most of mine.I have savings, I could afford to take a year out if I wanted. But to do what...?
msb5262 - I'm not on any medication except the pill. I hope that your anti-depressants are working well apart from the insomnia xx
wannabee_in_credit - I've commented on your thread hon xxx
duckeggblue - lovely to hear from you again, and I'm glad that you're having more ups than downs xxxx
I've also been reading about Nigella Lawson and I felt sick to the pit of my stomach. I read a blog post citing what happened to her and talking about domestic abuse generally - it was a bit close to home and upsetting. I hope that she leaves him.Life is a gift... and I intend to make the most of mine :A

Is there anywhere you want to go on holiday? Sorrento or Rome are amazing
I would be just going and chilling on holiday
I can't believe its been 2 months. You've done really well. Did you ever think you'd feel this relaxed and happy? What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0 -

Oh, LOTS of places.I'd love to go on holiday somewhere, but I couldn't go on my own. I'd want to go with a friend or in a group. Might put the word out amongst my single friends
I think back to 2 months ago and I can't believe everything that has happened. I have no regrets at all. I do feel sad about it, but I also feel relieved that I managed to make a very hard decision and follow it through xxLife is a gift... and I intend to make the most of mine :A

I know that I should be in bed
but I'm sitting up watching 'Before Sunrise', and it's making me feel a bit melancholy. I first saw it as a teenager, and to me it was THE most romantic film ever. I still think that it's romantic, but this time round it makes me want to be 21 again
or at least to have some adventure in my life! Preferably involving Paris and a handsome stranger.
Sigh...Life is a gift... and I intend to make the most of mine :A
