Thanks very much, patanne. I'll try that. I might do them with her as well, we can have a laugh and she can get into the habit of doing them every day. I don't want to nag her, but I do want her to look after herself and stay as healthy as she can xx

  • Hello Tayforth, I have lurked on your thread for a while and I am really impressed at how well you are coping with everything and glad to see life is getting back on track for you. It's normal to have a few ups and downs along the way but I have never regretted opting for the single life despite all the mess that sometimes comes with it.

Sorry to hear about your mum's recent diagnosis. You were looking for information about it so perhaps the British Lung Foundation can be of help, although they cover all respiratory diseases there is a section COPD (which generally covers emphysema). They also do a lot of research so are one of the better ones for information.

British Lung Foundation run self support groups called Breathe Easy. Might be worth checking if there's one in your area.

Two months today since I dumped my ex. I thought: that's worth a mention. :o I still pinch myself tbh! It's been a roller coaster, but overall I've done really well.

Next step: getting back to work.

Wow, is it 2 months already!
You seem to be doing really well Tayforth, but agree that getting back to work is your next big step.
To some extent, I think, you've been living in a bit of a 'bubble' for the last few weeks, which is absolutely fine, you needed to step out of 'the real world' to process and start healing.
But 'the rest of your life' has to be lived out there in 'the real world' and the next step to getting there will be getting back to work :)

Have to agree with this 100%

OP you now need routine in your life to be able to move forward.

You have achieved all the things you set out to do. Leave ex, sister wedding, making will etc now it is time to move forward and that needs to be done back in your own home.
  • Good luck Tayforth.
I've just been signed off for a fortnight with stress, so hardly one to talk about work etc. But I am determined that I won't be off for longer than that unless I have to be.
You've come so far, and gone through such huge changes. Now it's time for you to be getting back to the day to day stuff. I wish you loads of luck with it. I am probably saying nothing you don't already know but a phased return will probably help you to ease yourself back in.

Just checking in to say the emotional ups and downs are very familiar. Still plodding through my life, more ups than downs.
