I don't want this to consume me, I need to take back control of my own life. Whether by talking about it, going to the police, or whatever - I should start to do what's best for me, rather than putting everyone else first.
You are really turning into the beautiful butterfly you deserve to be...
Just remember the bolded words every day.
Well done tayforth!

Is he aware of where you live exactly? He also arrogantly might think as you were a child you don't remember!0

God, no. He wouldn't know where I live.
Do you think that it's possible that he assumes that I don't remember?? That hadn't occurred to me, either. I'm not sure how I feel about that - angry, I suppose. I wasn't THAT young - about 4 or 5!
That's knocked the stuffing out of me a bit...Life is a gift... and I intend to make the most of mine :A

You were certainly more than entitled to a 'wobble' after the shock of hearing about this, but this statement demonstrates the positive attitude that has helped you through the last few weeks and which makes me feel confident that you will find the best way, for you, to deal with this and not let it de-rail you from your new path.

You go girl!
Thanks, Jackie. I still feel a bit stunnedI'm back at my mum's house for the next few days, so at least I'm not anywhere near my abuser - and he rarely, if ever, comes to visit his family (something to hide?), so I feel safe.
I'll try to stay positive and not make any rash decisions.
I went to visit a friend and her new baby today (lots of people I know have had babies recently!), and that cheered me up.Life is a gift... and I intend to make the most of mine :A

I'm sorry that wasn't my intention perhaps this is why it's better to talk to a professional who can ask the right questions. Really sorry x
You said if he's scared why move nearer to you but you say he doesn't know where you live anyway so that's just coincidence on his part then surely?0 -

He probably doesn't know my actual address, but I'm sure that he knows what city I live in as I've lived there for 10+ years.
And please don't apologise!! xxxLife is a gift... and I intend to make the most of mine :A

Although it is a huge thing for you, it may well not be a huge thing in his life at all, and he may not have you in mind whatsoever in his choice of town to move to.
He was not found out about the abuse at the time, and therefore it's way in his past (I'm not saying it should be for you). I very much doubt that he is now intending to pursue you for any reason at all.
I recognise that this is really unsettling for you, and as someone else posted, you are completely entitled to feel that way, but please try to be reassured about what is likely to be the reality for him now.
PS Glad it went well with your sister.0
