Oh there's alot of equity but as the equity came from his old house I've said I don't want it as rightfully its his. Although its tempting at times due to his attitude, lol.

I know he wants to sell eventually but can't see it happening soon.

Hmmm he reckons the divorce can't go through until my name is off it and the deeds.

Oh he's divorcing me. Started the process January 2012 and NISI was issued April 2012. It's still dragging on!!!

I know now I can apply for the absalout but am concerned as we still share property that might stop it.

No settlement, I left with a car full of personal possessions and let him have everything else. House, savings, furniture and alot of my smaller things. But sometimes it's just easier, know what I mean?

I think you need legal advice... and are you sure it makes it easier? I know what you mean but it could all be done through your solictor so you wouldn't have to talk to him and it might make your life easier in the long run.

Afaird you really should head over to the mortage section as you'll get some soild advice their...I don't think you would have to get your name of before you get divorced maybe he just wants it done before so when the divorce goes through you cant try and claim half?

If you have kids you can still get divorced and have both names on the mortage till such a time the house is sold when kids are 18 and proceeds are then spilt...so that doesnt make sense to me.

I never got a solicitor due to cost, just don't have the thousands it would cost :(

Hi Tayforth, had just come in to see how you are doing..blooming marvellous by the sounds of it. Onwards and upwards as you knew.

Well done telling everyone. It must be a huge weight off your shoulders knowing people are supporting you.

Thanks so much mcja! Yes, I'm doing really well. I've told two more neighbours today, it's wonderful being able to tell everyone at last. They've been so understanding, I'm incredibly relieved.

Peanut - it needn't cost thousands! Have you had your free half hour consultation even? Try that first, and then you may be surprised at what you're entitled to. It could save you money in the long run xxx

I went to visit a cousin earlier who lives nearby, and told her the story. As with everyone else, she was lovely.

I'm feeling shattered from constantly telling the same story, but glad that people are starting to hear the truth.

Tomorrow morning, Mum and I are going to go to the nearest big town - she needs to do a large food shop, so we'll do that and then maybe have a mosey around :)

It depends on your income, if you are entitled to legal aid or not. A family friend is going through a split just now, they arent married but hes trying to deny her access to her share of the property she left and other assets they bought during their time together, she put £80000 of her own money into the house she left, hes also trying to not pay CSA and theres also legal issues going on due to a violent incident.

Shes had to pay thousands but shes living off savings just now.
It will be means tested and will depend on income someone has.

Wishing your friend all the best, Pauline. It must be a really anxious and stressful time for her xx
