I had a lovely afternoon with my friend. Her baby is beautiful, and we chatted about the birth and all their plans. I told her the truth about me and the ex, and she was great. Such a relief to be able to tell people at last.

Then I came back and Mum had a couple of visitors, they're huge gossips so we didn't tell them anything.

I have a few more people to tell and then that'll be it until Sis gets home from honeymoon.

    How is everyone?

Next Wednesday (22nd). I'll go back to my house for a few days before they arrive, give them a few days to catch their breath, get settled in and see our families, and then come back next weekend and tell them. And then I want the whole world to know!!!! :)

Oh, forgot to mention - I've phoned a few solicitors about making a will, best quote was £50! I have a couple more to phone tomorrow and then will go and see one on Thursday.

I'm feeling quite positive and proactive at the minute :)

Just phoned and made an appointment with a solicitor to make a will - next Thursday! They quoted me £50 as it's going to be very uncomplicated, which is cheaper than I was expecting tbh. So I'm really pleased with that. :)

Tay, can't remember if you mentioned this...

Do you rent or own? I'm trying to work out roughly how much it will cost to get my name taken off my mortgage with the ex.

He 'apparently' was sorting it, and 'apparently' it's taken the bank 7 months and they're still messing around. Can't say I believe it for a second, last time I spoke to him (spoke possibly not the word, he turned up to shout and threaten me) he made it very clear he'd be dragging the divorce out as long as possible.

So I thought I could go and request the paperwork but am wondering roughly how much it's going to cost me!

I rent, thank goodness. I can't imagine that it'll cost that much to take your name off. Does your ex earn enough to pay the mortgage? If so, I can't see how a 7-month delay is possible.

Additionally, will it make a difference to your settlement in the divorce if your name is no longer on the mortgage? I can't remember whether you've taken legal advice or not.

Sorry to hear that your ex wants to drag the divorce out. I can never understand why people do that. On what grounds will you be petitioning?

Mine will be on the grounds of his unreasonable behaviour, and I have clear evidence, plus my neighbours as witnesses. So I really hope that my ex doesn't contest it. If he does, he'll lose and it'll cost him.

Its not about how much its going to cost (although im sure thier will be an admin fee but doubt it will be £1000s) its about whether the bank agree to let you off it hun...cause end day if he doesn't pay the mortage they would much prefer two people to chase then one!

You might find the bank just flat out refuses to take you off...perhaps make your own thread in the mortage section?

    This is a possible scenario.

In that case Peanut, is there enough equity in the house for you to sell it and split the proceeds?
