I'm ashamed to say that I work with quite a few men who work on the principle that "while the cat's away" (I work outside the UK for fairly long stretches) and although it's not for me to judge how others live, it sickens me. My idea of fun is a night on skype with the family and a bottle of wine (Mrs Alpha and I frequently have online toasts!)...rambling a bit but the point is that there are a lot of bast*rds out there but there are also some decent men as well. Don't tar us all with the same brush!

I totally don't, I'm sure there are a lot of lovely blokes out there but unfortunately the rotters do manage to find some of us like flies round....oh hang on I'm likening myself to horse poo there :embarasse .... Whoops, ouchy

Ps i'm glad there are some good guys though, thanks Alpha!! :)

Have you heard anything from your ex re the car, your sister's wedding or anything along the lines of 'I tried to get in the house to collect xyz but the locks appear to have been changed'?

Not a thing, thankfully! If I never hear from him again it'll be too soon.

It was very simple silk crepe. Quite 1930s style. Absolutely stunning. :A

Thanks so much <3 You're so lovely, I'm welling up here just thinking about all the goodwill and kindness that's been shown to me by you all xx

Just had a friend round (GF of one of the ex's friends). She was lovely. We just chatted. I asked her if she had heard and she said yes. I didn't criticise the ex, just said that I was happy with my decision and felt at peace. Then we talked about everything under the sun. :)

She and her BF are moving in together in a couple of months and will be very close to here, it'll be nice to have them round the corner as they're both lovely. I feel reassured that at least some of our mutual friends want to stay in touch with me. :o

Sounds to me that people may have known what he was like and just kept quiet.

Perhaps. I don't really mind either way, I'm not out to turn his friends against him. I'm just happy not to have to see him.

When she left, I closed the door, came back in, cleared away the teacups and just sat enjoying the silence. I really like being alone, it's better than I thought it would be. Obviously, I was unhappy with my ex, so anything has to be better than that. But it's just nice in general.
