I think I'm going to have to be the one to leave. Although most of the stuff in this house is mine, so it'd be easier for him to go.

I'm actually pretty angry at him right now. Why did he come back?

Because you aren't playing the game.

What kind of mood is he in? If you are planning to leave tonight dont do anything until a friend or family member is with you. He is already verbally aggressive toward you. It is not uncommon for people with these traits, to lose it and become violent, when they realise they have lost their control over you. I really hope you are okay OP.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

MissMoo, I agree you should GET OUT! He may be in need of help but you and your child are in serious danger. Do you want your child growing up angry and anxious? This lack of respect for you will affect your child in so many thousands of ways. Please get out.

tayforth, good luck to you too. You deserve better.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

I don't really know what kind of mood he's in. I refused to speak to him at all. His tone was conciliatory, but he's refusing to leave, so clearly he doesn't give a s**t what I want. Pardon my French.

Btw marisco, your sig is inspirational.

Just saw your edits on this post. I'm not going to leave tonight; and I'll lock the spare room door. But I honestly don't think that he'll do anything.

I think that just talking about it to you all, and the Samaritans lady, has given me the courage to say that enough is enough. He's trying to make me feel bad, saying that I'm giving up on our marriage and he wants to save it, but I feel strong enough to think - no, you're the one who destroyed it.

You are wiser and stronger than you give yourself credit for. Actions speak louder than words in my opinion. A case of too little, too late now I think OP.

Because you didn't follow him or ask him to come back, as he expected you to.

I'm afraid it probably won't be as easy as you hoped. Stay in the spare room from now on, start separating your stuff, go to a solicitor.

Thank you both. This is the hardest decision that I've ever had to make. It's comforting to know that I'm not alone.
