Nationwide Flexplus account - feedback

Options
I have just heard about the new Nationwide current Flexplus account.
http://www.nationwide.co.uk/current_account/flexplus/default.htm?intcmp=Intcmp_1767

For a monthly fee of £10 pm you receive a number of benefits.

Before i decide to joint the current account i like to know if anyone has this account already and happy with the service and offerings of the account?

As it just was launched recently, I think you'll wait for a long time for a feedback on on actual services.

It looks like a good account for those whose needs it fits.

First consider if it fits your needs. Then, which of the benefits will you use? Can you get these for less than £10 elsewhere?

I think it's a fantastic value account for what you get with it.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

I will be changing to this and ditching my rbs royalties account. The benefits for me are all the same but at £2.95 a month less and you get withdrawals abroad for free

The overeseas withdrawls for free is a good benefit! That would have saved me at least £10 in the past few months.
Breakdown costs me approx. £60 pa

Travel insurance is good if its with Insurance UK as there T&Cs were straighforward.

I like the idea that electrical products are covered for 12mth even if bought within 12mths of opening the account. DAK if future purchases have to be paid with a NW debit or credit card? (as use my Capital one CB card for all purchases).

Also anyone know of any offers to join this account such as a few months free or cashback?

I don't believe so. Certainly, there's nothing in the account information to suggest that this is a requirement.

There's a Nationwide cashback credit card offering 0.5%. It's not for me as I have better elsewhere, but for those without existing cashback credit cards, given that a few have been pulled recently or had fees added, it's certainly worth considering.
Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right! :D

Off the top of my head, the terms of the extended warranty say something about "it must have been purchased on a card in your name".

thats what i would think, but no rule to state it has to have been purchased with a NW card! Also all good bought up to 12mths before the account has been opened are covered!

This account is a big plus IMHO.
Car breakdown costs me approx. £60 pa
Interest earned after tax approx £60 pa
Hence monthly fee is at least covered until interest rate changes.

    Account Value = Fantastic

My experience with Nationwide so far... god awful

No part of the move to Nationwide has gone smoothly or correctly, everything is chase chase chase.... The people on the phone are very lovely but nothing ever gets done.

They keep banging on about 'We have no shareholders so we're all about you' but it really doesn't seem to be the case. It may come as a shock to some but Santander have been FAR better =/

I have banked with NW for over 10years with other accounts. Customer service is reasonable maybe a few mins wait on the phone at the most. But you at least you can get help via branches, phone and secure messages via online access. When i called the plus account line yesterday with some questions on the account they said they have been flooded with new applications more than expected so expect a delay with correspondence.
