I do not use Nationwide as my main account, but the Flex Plus is a great packaged account in my opinion.
I travel quite often and save a fortune in free withdrawals abroad.0 -
I've got a basic (joint) Nationwide account and have been trying to upgrade to FlexPlus but have been getting this message all this week:

So I call the number, and they can't do it over the phone as it's a joint account. So I've got to go to the bank, and from what I gather, listen to the insurance cover been read out for 20-25 minutes. I'll not be able to pay attention, never mind the two kids we'll be bringing along!
Anyone else having the same problem, or more importantly, overcome it? Thanks

My daughter was looking at upgrading to this account purely for the 3% interest, mobile and holiday insurance and the breakdown cover. But we've just noticed in the small print you have to be 18 (she's not till April). Is there any way around this? For example if she did without the overdraft (she doesn't want this anyway). The answers probably no but thought I would ask

I am very unhappy with the FlexPlus Mobile Phone insurance managed by Lifestyle. I will not recommend this to anyone and rather getting so much annoyed that I am thinking of leaving Nationwide.
You can not think of living without your smartphone. My phone got damaged on Sunday I sent on Monday, 20th for Tuesday 1pm delivery. It is now Wed 29 and I have been told that this is posted today and i could get in 1-3 working days.
Other insurance repair or replace in 2-3 working days. I am not sure how Nationwide treat customers by chosing a bad partner for Insurance.
Issues
1.] They received phone on Tuesday but only until Wednesday they said we acknowledge your claim and will allocate an engineer next day Thursday, they will take 3 working days which will start next day - friday, monday, tuesday.
I called interim to check what is the status and was informed to wait patiently until end of 3 working days. I called today Wednesday morning, dispatched today may take 1-3 working days.
If i would be Lloyds TSB, Barclays customer and paying £10 per month, will have got this sorted Wednesday last week with receiving 2 calls to check everything is ok.
I just hope the issue is resolved when i get the phone sometime this week.
One thing is for sure, I am leaving Nationwide very soon0 -
I am generally a happy nationwide customer. Will multiple products with them:
- FlexPlus Account
- Select Credit Card
- Mortgage
The phone insurance however is a joke and should be used with caution.
I had the misfortune of throwing my iPhone across the drive and breaking the screen. So called upon the insurance. The claim was approved over the phone and I printed the sheet and sent the phone off. After this it all started to go wrong...
Ridiculous process for mobile repairs. No communication about claim, not dealt with in the given timescales, then sent different colour replacement back. Only found out when opening and no process for return and receiving old broken phone back.
Been through complete complaints process and at each stage just referred me to T&C's stating that colour was not covered and refused to accept that their process wasn't customer focussed. Happy to hide behind Nationwide's brand name with no Twitter account to shame them on!
No option to return phone and get original back, no option for exchange, no willingness to accept that there is anything wrong with the process.0 -
