I'm very surprised. I might write it down and frame it if you wouldn't mind? I know that sounds strange to ask from a complete stranger but it is obviously personal to you (and I would feel strange if I didn't ask you) and I think it is a lovely sentiment to reflect on.
I dont mind at all. It is a lovely message and it helped change my life around for the better. Shame she didn't glance a little further to the left and clock the disbelieving look on the police officers face. He wasn't falling for any of it.
They revelled in that press conference. Sickening.
The photo of them with that officer in the background was a super shot. I hope the photographer got a big pat on the back for that! Talk about a picture painting a thousand words!
And what was with the big pretend swoon/faint Mick did afterwards?! I'm sure if you Google "how to be not normal in any way" there would be a picture of Mick Philpot there now.0 -
Not once during that whole press conference did either of them ask for help in finding who caused the fire that killed their children.
Come on if this hard been a genuine arson attack and your kids had been murdered you would barely be able to hold it together and it would take all your strength to beg for help. There was none of that and now we all know why

Quite.
That's why I am - for once - quite sure that I wasn't the only person who was saying at that point:
"They did it. (Even if they didn't actually intend to kill the kids, and it was some stupid plan where they'd end up being heroes and get publicity and money and stuff)"
I also got told off for being a horrible cynical person for believing/saying such a thing.
Interesting to think back to those comments, on a thread where I seem to be cast in a very different role.
The discussions now aren't so much about did they do it. The process of law has found that they did indeed do it.
This thread is really delving much deeper than that. Which is interesting.0 -
What I can't stand in all of this is that after the trio were found guilty that their defense solicitor was allowed to stand up and claim that they were good parents. How anyone could work for their defense is beyond me but how they could then stand up and claim that they were good parents is just disgusting. Whoever stood up in court and said those words, I hope the universe conspires against them to make their life a misery.0

I completely agree with you Ronaldo. I dont think I could make those words come out of my mouth. Defence solicitors must come across all kinds of awful situations. I think it takes a certain personality type to be able to do their job. They must have this ability to distance themselves from the siuation to represent such individuals. Sorry but I cannot and will not refer to those two as people. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. I'm watching it now. Disgusting excuse for a man. I can't even grasp how any woman would want THAT near them, nevermind producing kids with him. It makes my skin crawl.
Oh believe me it's boggled the minds of many a school staffroom (not that particular part of Derby) when you've had the estate self-styled Cassanova moving onto his next lady...
As for him - thuggish idiot who thinks he's IT, thinks he's smarter than anyone, thinks he's irresistable to women (the crusty crunchy underpants must be doing it for the ladies) - basically a wide boy with an ego to match... her - seems very limited intelligence and self-esteem - basically looking for someone to tell her exactly what to do and when to do it... not a good combination at the best of times. Wideboy thought he'd get the kids out, get to look the hero, become even MORE irresistable to the ladies and didn't even question the possibility of things going wrong.
First thing I'd thought when I saw the initial news of the fire (obviously it being top story on the local news from the outset) was an attempt to push for a bigger house gone wrong - not even a wibble about who'd done it to be honest.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

Friend used to do the job - he basically had to completely mentally divorce his real life (and he was a lovely guy as well) from it and would approach things purely from an analytical totally detached point of view... he was actually incredibly terrifying but fascinating in another way when he'd describe how he'd go about taking someone's testimony apart.
Job drove him to a breakdown in the end - he now rides the private lettings market.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
I am not surprised it drove him to a breakdown. However detached and professional you try to be, some things must play on your conscience a bit, when holding that role. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses.
