Just back from my "big shop" of the month. Not too bad as we still had quite a lot of meat in so spent £24.97. Just fresh food top ups needed now.

So no SFD in terms of this challenge but as food spends come from the joint account, i'm still on track for my money detox :)

    Evening all,

well I didn't have a SFD today but it was planned spends. £3 for hospital parking for my 20 week scan, £1.89 for milk and ginger beer and £16.85 at the play barn for a monthly pass & crisps.

The hospital parking was £1 cheaper than I was expecting which was great. Here are my budgets so far

    Food £29.39/£30 (weekly)
    Entertainment £16.85/£81.20
    Planned spends £3/£60

I should really nip out and get some more bread so I can SFDs until Saturday. Might do that once DS is in bed :D.

So far, I don't think I'm doing too bad. It's nice having a budget for planned other spends which is probably our downfall.

  • Woohoo - 1st SFD!

A slightly strange day, as I would normally have dropped into local SM to buy something nice, like chocolate or cake or biscuts, so while this money saving lark is going to help me sort my life out & get to where I want to be, it might be that I eat a bit better too!

Tonight's tea is a bit random - a lovely fishcake which was left over from earlier in the week, together with a range of high quality hash browns! I'm going with the theory of using up what I've got in the freezer.... interesting...

Tomorrow I'll have to pay for physio (planned spend) and I need to buy a birthday card for my nephew. Other than that, no other spending should happen - can I still class that as SFD?? (I'm new to all this...!)

    Evening all!

Alas I can't report a sfd but I can report day 3 of my diary filled in and up to date.

I committed a cardinal sin today, I threw away food. Total coat of said food amounted to about 30p so could have been worse but I have completely kicked myself. I hate doing that but it was beyond saving. Mortified with myself and its shown me that I need to slow myself down and organise. Which sometimes is easier said than done!

Well, sadly a spendy day today - not major but a wedding collection @ wk and £9.20 at SM on way home.
What is interesting is that even if I don't keep to the £100 (but I'll do my damdest to stick to it) is that working in cash makes you think so much about things. £5 for wedding collection today - that's 5% of my monthly budget.
Petrol in car too but as I only use car for getting to work & back I'm no counting this.
Enough for tonight - sore eyes.com

  • Grrr....was all set to be a spend free day, but then left my travel pass at work & I wasn't in the mood to trundle back and forth again for half an hour to pick it up for the sake of £2 (maybe if it was a bit warmer!). This challenge is amazing though as even in 2 days it has made me rethink purchasing decisions, and I even got up early this morning to make my lunch whereas I would have normally chosen an extra 15 minutes in bed.
