  • Busy few days. On Easter hols at the moment with DC and they need constant amusement (only 18 mths and 6yo bless them). Also DH birthday yesterday. Did amazon prezzies for his birthday, then lots of tesco vouchers to get pizza express lunch for 4 adults and 2 kids for less than £20. All going well til he said his playstation had died. I'm weak and didn't want a fight so he got a new one. Left me feeling depressed as then I thought well that's the whole month out the window. grrr.

This was off the back of not feeling very good about March - I was doing well on food and then in the last week blew the budget out the window. Anyway must try harder now.

My budgets are frankly embarrassing looking at the ones everyone else sets, I would like our food bill to be lower but fail all the time. This includes formula, nappies and lactofree stuff for DS.

    Food: £400
    Petrol and travel: £80
Other: £200 - to include 3 more birthdays, climbing, skating and indoor play area session over easter holidays, childrens' clothes

DH now says will put his birthday money towards the playstation, sell the free handset that came with it and sell the old one for spares - so that's slightly better, but still - makes me scrapping at pennies feel worthless when the pounds are dripping out the side.

I will try and back read through all the posts now to get some inspiration. hope you are all well!

Hi all, three letters all ready to be posted - one is free post! :) I am liking this now even though I was hesitant. I have just written positive reviews and haven't asked for freebies - abundant let me know what you find - but its so nice to actually sit and say nice things, makes me appreciate how lucky we are to have so much choice and quality at our fingertips! Even those of us on tight budgets have some choice and variety and I know my debts were run up with greed and carelessness. Nice to do something positive and I although freebies would be nice too, its all good anyway.

    Goodnight all

  • Bouncyminky - keep going lovely!! Its carp when you scrape and then get thrown a curve ball :( If you after inspiration try frugal queen cornwall. Im not overly convinced about the blog awards stuff but the theory she lives by is fairly inspiring if a little hardcore at times! Its what got me started on this track and this thread will hopefully keep me there....

Got to go to sleep - shattered now

I know what you mean - when I forget something it really makes me anxious. How do they do it? Pure willpower with a little planning to give it a kick I think!
When I go out I always alternate lime and soda with my usual tipple - try to trick my brain into thinking its a cocktail - not only does it save the pennies but also helps keep me hydrated for morning after - win win!

  • Evening everyone! :)

Apologies for the late night post but have had a busy day and have just sat down, phew!

Today I bought birthday gifts for my sister-in-law and niece's birthday which came under what I had planned for in my budget. Continued with some spring cleaning and found a tenner that must have fallen down the back of the cupboard where I found it so really pleased with that!

Tomorrow I am aiming for SFD number 3 as am helping out with essay writing again, after that my brain will be wiped so I'll want to just chill out I think.

Hope you all had a nice day, goodnight all

    Good evening everebody ,

Still only 1 SFD as yesterday and today was a spendy day due to my hungry belly... today I had to buy additional food on top of my lunch from home :o ... how embarrassing. So I decided to go food shopping this evening as well. I have to make sure I aslo have something for breakfast, otherwise I eat endlessly for the rest of the day with no food satisfaction...

Time for bed folks. Have a great day tomorrow.

  • thanks for the encouragement guys. I'll get there. Must learn to look on the bright side a bit more. I managed to get the kids out to the park today without freezing - lovely and sunny and only one incident of stick throwing in face of another child (!). No serious injury thankfully.
Because of this I had my first SFD - yea..

Also off the back of the mega playstation spend there was a £10 voucher for argos - so I immediately spent it on a birthday pressie for my niece to save DH spending it on other stuff - saved a bit too. Anyway off to bed - night, night.
