Today should be SFD number 2. I'm so grateful for people baking every other day for our department coffee room. Saves me giving in and getting money to buy a snack :)

I might check in again tonight, but I'll be offline from tomorrow till Monday as we're away.

    Have fun

Just a quickie before I board.. No more contenders now. Please refer them to this post should anyone ask to join. Lurkers always welcome but time to knuckle down and pledge next month to be early enough to be fully aware of rules and plan before commencing.

Wow DanielleNic87, you're hard core!!! How on earth do you manage that? Or have I misunderstood and you're adding £20 to your food budget?

So, does 50p on a stamp count as a spend? Huh, looks like I still haven't had a SFD yet :( I almost bought a book of 12 stamps so that I'm ready to post begging letters, but I couldn't bring myself to part with £6 and just bought what I needed.

Other than my 50p stamp, there's no money in and no money out.

I did my first walk from Zone 2 today - it was a nice day so I clocked up 2 x £1.50 savings and quite enjoyed it :)

No you read it right. Just giving myself £20 this month. Only thing I need is milk at the moment. As you can see from my sig we have only spent £200 on groceries ths year so far.

  • Morning everyone. Well, am 3 days into April challenge and its not going great with the unexpected throwing up essential spends again. Discovered we have a massive hole in our rood yesterday where some tiles had slipped. Also discovered the cowl had fallen off our chimney. £120 later all fixed but thats completely blown our misc budget.
Monday was a spend day for us as took my eldest daughter upto London for the day to the theatre. She was desperate to see 'Potted Potter' and worked and saved up for both our tickets herself. I then saved for the rest of the day - train/underground/cheap tea etc... by selling on ebay. However, still cost £100!!! How does anyone in London save ANYTHING!!! However, had a lovely day bonding with my eldest and she was really grateful for our special day out.
Had Mr T shop delivered so food cupboards are incredibly well stocked for the month.
    Loving this sunshine!!!!

Wow, that's impressive. Please share your tips, how many are there of you and what do you eat. Just keeping me in basics (pasta, toms, veg, little meat, cereal etc.) is more than that. Wouldn't mind picking up some useful tips. Or do you keep animals, grow your own?

    Cheers

No SFD for me. Bought some currant tecakes from the bakers for breakfasts for £1.05, cereal and fruit just didn't fill Hubby up this morning and he'd eaten his lunch by 10.30am!

Hopefully FIL can fix the oven (my friend reckons the element's gone) today.

There's nothing like a day of sunshine to keep your spirits up and avoid the dreaded spending. SFD number 2 here - and a garden bin overflowing from my efforts. Now I need to start tracking down soome more items to declutter - 55 so far so will trawl the house for another 15.

I am also going to get my sewing machine out after seeing the great british sewing bee last night. Probably not up to making my own clothes yet but I have tons of fabric around the house which I could turn into something useful.

It was great wasn't it, I have made cushions and curtains with my machine, but never had the nerve to try clothes, I really want to try now. I am going to ask around the relatives and charity shops, see if anyone has any old patterns I can play around with.
