Hi all, checking in early today wiht a SFD, my first for April. I know I am going straight home from work and will not be venturing out again. I only have £2 in my purse anyway! had to buy some bits for veg plot yesterday hence the spendy day. Any further bits will be bought on same day as groceries as I am not wasting my SFDs this month. Revisited spreadsheets - I keep them at work - to take account of my mad (lol) decision to pay about £2k off my son's credit card next month instead of my own. still on target for my DFW date of 1/1/14, phew. Have done meal plan for about next 12 days, and need minimum spends to add to what I already have in freezer/fridge/cupboards
It's great to see so many posts and contenders for this month, I think we will need to keep an eye on each other while you-know-who is away but I'm sure we will make it through and make our dear leader proud. Onwards and upwards everyone.

    Hi all

I'm not planning in heading out again so I'm declaring another SFD (2). I have to get diesel tomorrow so I will try to buy all my bits & bobs in one go.
  • Hi everyone! :)

Checking in with my 2nd SFD! :T Spent day doing housework then helped my sister-in-law to be with a horrid 3000 word essay she's been stuck on so pretty productive day all in all. Just got a pasta bake in the oven using up more cupboard stuff so touch wood so far so good :D

Hope everyone's had a nice day!

Checking in with SFD number 2! Have been very busy sorting the house out today so not distracted into spending money.

    Hi everyone!

I'm not sure how to put my totals in a 'signature' :) so have listed them below:

    SFD 1/20
    Food 1/350
    Fuel 0/80
    Decluttered 3/100

Today was not a SFD as I had a planned lunch with friends from work at a lovely organic farm (and we sat outside, hardy souls!). It was a thought to go back to work after lunch at such a tranquil setting. I resisted buying any grocery shopping in their lovely shop (previously I would've spent on veg/bread flour/local cider or wine). Picked up some seed compost though as I need to get cracking with veg seedlings and popped into Mr A for a nice new A4 pad for DS2 who is studying for Standard Grades. If that makes him want to study more then it's def worth it...

Angelpye - what a lovely wedding gift! I can imagine how much appreciated it was. It's so lovely to give something useful and handmade. The fruit cake baked for 5 hours yesterday so it will be marzipanned and iced tomorrow before I get cracking with the other tiers. Still think my friend is mad to place such trust in me. I'll likely turn up at their wedding on Saturday like a dogs dinner as my priority is their cake hehe!

Have been keeping a spend diary and promise to take lunch everyday to work for the remainder of the month.

The spring cleaning target of 100 items is a bit ambitious but I've a pile of things to list on the Bay and going to music magpie some cds and dvds. Every penny really does help. Only on 3 items so far but achieved 100 items in Jan and Feb. March was only half that so I need to get clearing out again.

Loving this thread and all the lovely welcomes for us newbies. Away to make a dent in the ironing. Hope you all enjoy your evening!

  • Hi All,

Today my first SFD (I'm not counting the severn bridge toll). Off to work out my budgets for the month and plan my expenditure.

I have enough food in cupboards to avoid a proper food shop until the weekend, except milk and vegetables but will keep it to Lidl or yellow stickers!

My personal challenge by end of April to to clear credit card of £401.93 so will need to find ways to save money or stuff to sell. No clothes shopping for me.

    Money detox day 2 complete.

Nearly wavered over a bottle of fizzy pop but stayed strong.

I agree with the others - the 100 item declutter/ebay sounds good :)

Giving myself £20 for food this month.

Wow DanielleNic87, you're hard core!!! How on earth do you manage that? Or have I misunderstood and you're adding £20 to your food budget?

So, does 50p on a stamp count as a spend? Huh, looks like I still haven't had a SFD yet :( I almost bought a book of 12 stamps so that I'm ready to post begging letters, but I couldn't bring myself to part with £6 and just bought what I needed.

Other than my 50p stamp, there's no money in and no money out.

I did my first walk from Zone 2 today - it was a nice day so I clocked up 2 x £1.50 savings and quite enjoyed it :)
