I've never been a holiday I didn't enjoy. I'm not a beach holiday person, much prefer either city breaks or exploring the country. Even on the couple of beach holidays I did I still enjoyed myself as I just decided to get out and do what I like doing.

The two beach holidays were Goa and Tunisa. In Goa I explored a spice plantation, Hired a taxi for the day and went into more of the real Goa away from the beaches. The food there was spectacular if like me you enjoy seafood and curries. It's not somewhere I'd rush back too, as I prefer to explore galleries, museums, sights of historical interest etc, but I still had fun.

Tunisa as well I just went out and did what I like to do. I jumped on a train to Tunis, explored that. Got lost in a huge market that was like a maze. Jumped on a bus to Carthage as I have a passion from Roman history. The Tunisians like many Arab nations can be aggresive in trying to sell, but I'm more than well enough travelled to deal with that.

My idea of hell would be an all inclusive resort, or a cruise. No matter how luxurious they are. Prison with fancy food!

Freeport, Grand Bahama, but it was 1979!

Locals spat at us or offered us drugs, they had to pick the cockroaches out of the fruit before adding it to our drink, there were loads more cockroaches in the room, the air conditioning was non existent and we were offered chicken that bled when you cut into it. The only place to go was a casino that had a £25 min stake....a fortune in 1979!!! Beaches were lovely -apart from the sand fleas.

I'm sure it's nothing like that now, but somehow never been tempted...

we had a similar (not quite as bad ) experience in Nassau in the Bahamas at the end of the 1980's. Luckily we were only there for a day, a short cheap flight from Miami. Glad we went and saw what it was like but I would never go for a holiday,

Someone mentioned Kavos in Corfu. I went there with a friend when we were about 24 for a clubbing and sun holiday, and it didn't disappoint in that respect, but there was nothing at all to do in the dayrtime.

    Sleep!..................

Cyprus, all of it, what a dump. Longest 10 days of my life.

The best places I have visited are Australia and South Africa. Stunning scenery, lovely people and so much variety of things to see and do.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

Horses for courses. I loved my 10 days at the 4 seasons is Sharm. Been twice to d hotel maris in marmaris and loved it. Big fan of Harrogate as well.

I hate most of Majorca and the whole island in summer. Family live there and I can't understand why.

I can honestly say I haven't had a bad holiday. We've had holidays that were not quite as good as the rest, but we always made the most of them.

I didn't like Marmaris all that much. Too 'English' for me, I like to experience local culture and there's no chance of that there, but we had some good nights out and found some lovely restaurants. I do still love Turkey though, Alanya and Oludeniz are lovely.

Sharm was another place I just don't get. Barely anything to do if you're not into diving, and food was terrible wherever we ate.

We went to Barcelona in Jan a couple of years ago. I know some people love it, but I didn't. It was freezing though, would probably have a totally different opinion if we had gone in summer.

    Turkey.
    Hands down.
Ugly country populated by ugly, unfriendly people.
Given the choice I think I'd even rather go to Birmingham than Turkey.

    Teeny bit racist there no?

The north of Majorca I loved but hated the South. My worst holiday ever was Tangiers in Morroco -we were booked for a week and we had other guests offering us large amounts of money for our flights home! Rats running over your feet in the restaurants, typical female focused abuse from the men, left behind when we went on a camel trek as the rep counted his friends when doing the head count and the hotel staff hated British people and would serve any who were at the bar absolutely last or go off to clear tables when it was their turn - never, ever again!
;) If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!
