Don't you just love Brits abroad!! , Why on earth don't people do their research , or maybe they just like to whinge ?

There are places I wouldnt choose to go back to . Dubai and Hawaii , had a lovely time but have had just as good a time going to places that have cost us peanuts .

As long as the sun is shining I think you can have a good time anywhere .............or tho I have to admit we tend to just have long weekends away , and it is easier not to dislike somewhere when you are only there for a few days lol
Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later

There are some dreadful places to holiday in Turkey but equally there are some amazing places in Turkey to holiday. Its all about doing your research first.

No need to research Turkey as I won't be going back.

That said, I do research and just got back from a fantastic 10 days in Sharm el Sheikh, which is a place many don't like. We loved it!

This is a thread about your worst holidays, what on Earth are you expecting people to do...

And will people stop going on about how if you "do some research" you can avoid all bad holiday areas. If I did deep enough research into every area I've been to to make sure I don't go anywhere that doesn't have problems, I wouldn't go anywhere at all...

Hotel wasn't actually bad, but we'd fancied a last-minute week in the sun and what we got was 4 days of rain and an 8 yr old with a sore tummy for the rest of week cause she'd been drinking the tap water when she brushed her teeth :(

Well, a very polite hassler if nothing else :rotfl:

We cracked up laughing, god knows where he learnt that from.

Me and DH kept walking at the back of other large groups pretending we were with them to avoid as much 'hassling' as possible'. Going in the shops in the town was like running an obstacle course/gauntlet of them! Even on the beach on the way there we had to walk in the water just to get as far away from the idiots telling at us from the beach side restaurants!

We met 2 older ladies who said they'd been coming for years & it got worse each year. They said they used to be polite now they just tell them to f£(&@ off. :rotfl:

    Pafos,Cyprus..a total dump.

This or Magaluf would be mine. Pathos wouldn't have been too bad if the accommodation was better, it wasn't awful, but it was shabby. Pathos has rubbish beaches & the sea isn't calm for swimming. The buses seemed to be rare, unlike the east side where they are cheap & frequent. Plus the accommodation was a fair trek from the bus stop down a dust trail - unlit. A tied up dog barked day & night, it was July & their was no air con.....
Magaluf was just a built up typical Brits abroad type of place, English breakfasts with PG tips & real HP sauce......

I love Sharm though, I love the sea & the hot bone dry climate, I wouldn't stay in the centre though.

Head up to Dahab next time. An hour from Sharm, but a million miles away.

    I don't mind Sharm though.
I stayed at the sensatori last year - about 7 miles from Sharm, fab hotel, beach & sea there.

I stayed at the Reef Oasis Blue Bay a couple of years ago, the snorkelling was fantastic but the beach was much better at the Sensatori.

Someone mentioned Kavos in Corfu. I went there with a friend when we were about 24 for a clubbing and sun holiday, and it didn't disappoint in that respect, but there was nothing at all to do in the daytime.

The town was one main street, the hotels all backed onto the beach so there wasn't a promenade to wander along, and the short main street was all clubs that had the shutters down in the day. It was like an abandoned town!

The hotel was nice, the place was friendly, there were quite a few nice restaurants where you could get Greek & Mediterranean food, and if you wanted to party the clubs were good, but the daylight hours were pretty dull!

And we went at the end of Sept and were plagued by wasps in the day.
Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.

Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt without a doubt!
Unless you want winter sun and to never leave the hotel complex.
