I loved Karachi, but only because I stayed one night there in a 5***** hotel paid for by the company I worked for :D

We were staying five star too, but it didn't really help. If anything, for me I felt further 'removed' from experience of the place. :(. My husband travels a fair bit for work and is booked very nice hotels, but when I used to go with him I found it a bit depressing that we could be almost anywhere. i'd prefer more boutiquey, less globalised experience. where you get to feel very secure and spoilt But also somewhat in the Country you are visiting.

It's unlikely I will get to go there again, which is a shame.

Skiathos - thankfully someone else paid. Never been anywhere with such an awful choice of food - lots of restaurants all serving the same!

UK - Cornwall - hate it with a passion.

We loved Skiathos, however I do agree that Greek cuisine in general can be a little narrow and simple, especially on a small island. Fortunately we love Greek cuisine.

My worst has to be Tunisia, absolutley hated it, couldn't walk down the street without being oggled at, couldn't sit on the beack without being peddled cheap crap. Yuk, yuk yuk. One of those pointless holidays where you may aswell be anywhere because you're stuck in the resort.

I hated Tunisia as well. Probably because I was young and not well travelled. It was before the days of trip advisor, our hotel was not what I expected and I hated the constant hassle.

I also wouldn't go back to Sunny beach, although I had a nice holiday, it wasn't my kind of place, a bit 18-30's for me.

You went to lanzarote off season..:rotfl:

No I didn't. That was part of the problem - I got the "it's not normally like this" weather.

I don't think it's a case of having a 'glass half empty', it's just that like most people, particularly when my kids were younger, we saved hard all year for our 2 week holiday, built an expectation, then the reality is disappointing.

I do so much more research now, we still save all year round but from the research, my expectations are more realistic :)

Have to agree with the opening poster; Sunny Beach, but I will also add Burgas, Pomorie, and most of the places we visited in Bulgaria (we hired a car and travelled around).

The exceptions were Nessebar and Sozopol, but then they were both crammed with tourists.

I definitely wouldn't choose to go back to Bulgaria - anywhere!

Have to agree, Nessebar is a little gem. We wandered around for the day and I liked it very much. Might have got bored if I went there though, with no-where else around that I like much.

Side in Turkey. We left the hotel once and never left it again! Which is very unlike us.

The hassling was unbelievable. I've backpacked around Asia and that was nothing compared to Side.

One guy even said 'excuse me can I hassle you?' Lol!!

Lanzarote - I've been twice, the second time under protest with someone who hadn't been before. It was awful both times.

Also Torrevieja (a few years ago) and Magaluf (30 years ago).

I'd rather lie in bed for a fortnight and gaze at my ceiling...
2013 Wins: Tickets to Northern Ballet. Dvd. Having a bit of a dry spell comp-wise :wall: but will keep a troshin'!

Thank you so much to all who post! :T

Well, a very polite hassler if nothing else :rotfl:
