Where are the worst places you've been on holiday?

Side, Turkey. In fact the whole of Turkey. Spent 2 weeks fending off men declaring their undying love to me and my friends. Hmmmm, Visa much?! Filty place, and you never get any peace from street vendors wanting you to come into their restaurant or shop. Some of them were actually really forceful as well.0

The recurring problem I keep noticing is that some people are judging an entire country from a little chavvy hamlet.
Turkey for instance, Marmaris is a dive, Icemeler a bit better - Selcuk is beautiful, Istanbul fantastic.
You can't expect to go to a beach resort that attracts Jeremy Kyles finest and it actually be the holiday of a lifetime. I mean come on :cool:0 -

Exactly. Turkey is a huge country - bigger than France or Germany. You may as well say "I hate the UK. I once went to Slough on a wet Tuesday night in December. The whole country is a dump."0 -
Bulgaria, anywhere there is a dump,
Kusadasi in turkey
Bahamas is still also a dump, especially nassau0 -
Providenciales. It has the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen but apart from that it was so dull.0

Living in Slough, I would agree! If this place was your only experience of the UK, you would leave it early!
(And my avatar thing states Windsor, because even I wont admit to living here!)0 -
What an interesting thread!
I have to say Turkey is the worst place I have ever visited.
In 2000 I went to Marmaris and could not walk the length of myself without getting stopped by someone from a bar or shop.
Some years later I went again, this time to Bodrum. Again I could not stomach the place. Did not relax the entire week. So giving it a second chance did not change my opinion.
I think with Turkey, you really do love it or you really really hate it.
I can only comment on these two resorts rather than the whole country. But if I found a £99 holiday at the last minute and it was Turkey, I would pass on it.0 -

You have my deepest sympathies.
Come, friendly bombs, and fall on Slough!
It isn't fit for humans now,
There isn't grass to graze a cow.
Swarm over, Death!

A new poem written by a schoolgirl in 2006. (Not sure she is so proud of it in 2013!)
Slough
Horrible bombs don't fall on Slough,
Because it's fit for humans now,
This town's much better, and how,
Old poem die a death!
Sikhs, Muslims and Christians too,
All are welcome and so are you,
All come here to live life anew,
One town, one breath.0 -
I wouldn't fancy going somewhere like Malia, etc, as I'm not into drinking 24/7 and it's not my cup of tea, so avoid, avoid, avoid. The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0
