Glad scan went well Firey good luck for tomorrow Mrs_T_M and LJ
Hope the spotting stops for you Adrenalina
Did you have symptoms with your previous pregnancy Clarets Girl?
I have my booking appointment tomorrow Disney_Pluto so I'll let you know what happens. I'm planning to go on my own, it never occurred to me to take OH, is that bad?! He did help me fill in the parts of my pink notes that I have to take in with me though.0 -
MrsMuffin at my booking in appointment the midwife advised she would send off for a scan date, the letter from the hospital to let me know the date came about a week later in the post.
welcome and congratulations clairebear.
Disney I didn't take OH to my booking in appointment, to be honest he probably would have got bored, they take all your medical history down, so as long as you know the basics about any important conditions he has that could affect the baby then he doesn't need to be there. Of course if he wants to go there's no reason why he shouldn't either.
OH is planning on attending my scheduled scans and possibly the extra consultant appointments. It's more interesting for them later on, once baby is big enough to hear the heartbeat at the midwife appointments. But as it's our 2nd he already kind of knows which appointments he wants to attend and which he thinks I'm fine to go on my own to.
Adrenalina sorry to hear about the spotting. Is it brown or bright red? I've been bleeding (heavier than spotting with clots) for over 2 weeks now, but it's brown and I've had 2 emergency scans at the EPU and both times baby has been fine and it's just a case of I'm bleeding but they don't know why but it's not affecting baby. I might just be one of the women who bleed all the way through. Hopefully your spotting turns out to be nothing to worry about too.
If it's bright red then it might be worth a trip to A&E, they might be able to do blood tests to confirm your hcg levels a couple of days apart, which should help to put your mind at rest if the levels are rising as they should. Alternatively, is there another EPU at a different hospital nearby that could fit you in any sooner? When I bled with DS at 9 weeks I went straight to the nearest A&E to where I was at the time and it was 2 days before they could scan me at the EPU. This time round I got a refferal from my doctor and went to my local hospital's EPU and they have seen me same day both times, it seems the care varies from one NHS trust to another.
Hope everyone is feeling OK.
Good Luck for the scans tomorrow Mrs TM and LJ9982, I hope you enjoy them!
AFM, the bleeding and clots and random pains are continuing but I've kind of got used to it now, will probably be more shocked when it stops. It did help having the 2 scans and knowing whatever it is it's not affecting the baby. The nausea seems to be getting worse but I've still not actually been sick, I just feel like I'm going to be all day long which is making it a bit difficult to concentrate sometimes at work, at least I work in an office so nobody will be harmed if my concentration lapese! I remember being bedbound for a week as my 'morning' sickness was so severe when I was about 8 weeks pregnant wth DS so I think I'm getting away lightly this time, that said I'm looking forward to it going completely. I also think whoever coined the term morning sickness needs a stern talking to, mine gets worse from midafternoon onwards until I manage to fall asleep at night. I usually love my food, but I'm losing interest in it now, and only eating because I have to - not even chocolate is tempting me. That all makes me sound really miserable, but I'm not, I'm so excited to be pregnant again, can't wait for my scan on New Years Eve, and actually feel quite lucky that I don't feel as ill as I did first time round!
wangdoodle they took bloods and did a urine test at my booking in appointment as well as going through medical history and advising about supplements (and in my case extra consultant appointments etc).

I phoned doctors today and have a midwifery appointment next Wednesday. Is this what they call booking appointment?
I hate hospitals, so I may be a bit biased about my opinion on things.
That will be your booking appointment. I'm in the Timberhill district, and there the midwife fills everything in for you at the appointment. They were training someone when I went, so it's a possibility she's still training, just a heads up. Urine sample, blood taken, talked through the form/booklet. DH went with me, I don't think a fire hose turned on him would have even kept him away! He was bored during most of it, so he was playing on his phone, but he was there to answer the questions about his family history (which is nice, because I didn't know what questions they would ask!).
Oh, and when they ask - does anyone in your family have x? - they are only asking about immediate family members, mom, dad, siblings, NOT aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc. I mentioned that my grandmother has diabetes (developed it when she was 70...) and that with my weight automatically put me on the high risk side... Looked over the papers later, and it's only asking about immediate family!
Take a list of any medications you're on, and any questions you have as well! It's far too easy to get in there and forget all of the questions you had for them.
Oh, and scan photos at N&N cost £4 EACH! :eek:0 -
Best of luck for your scan today mrs tm xx0

Thinking of you Mrs TM and hoping everything goes well today x0

Thanks for all advice. I've left it up to my husband if he wants to come!
Good luck Mrs TM today. If there £4 each I better get lots of money out! Maybe if I go in my uniform they will give them to me lol. I'm not timber hill I'm out if the city but a work colleague at the same doctors as me who just had her scan was telling me about her appointment and she said it all gets filled in there so sounds same as you. Let me know how it goes.
How hard is it not to share your exciting news. I want to tell the world but at the same time scared of something going wrong.0 -
I'll post the photo when we get home tonight, but I couldn't keep quiet! We have a single little baby that's perfect!!!! Scans were blurry (I'm fat!) so we ended up not being charged for them.
Dated 13+1 today, and my 20 week scan is on my birthday (29 Jan)! Wonderful excuse for DH to take the day off work!0 -
aww fantastic news Mrs TM, been dying to hear all ok with you after your little scare earlier on!
So pleased for you, and it's not cos you're fat, it's cos of your 'patient body habitus', which is the diplomatic way they said i was fat on my 20 week scan report heheLittle Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6

The scan was wonderful! Hope your scan goes well tomorrow LJ9982!
I was put back 1 day so new due date of the 20th June. It is amazing how seemingly accurate the scan I had at nearly 8 weeks was for dating my pregnancy!
Think I will hang around here for another week then move on up to 2nd Tri! Still feeling a bit rubbish, described it to OH as feeling permanently a bit hungover!
That's good news that you haven't gone any further back - i am expecting at least a week back roughly - though i could be suprised. going by LMP and by what the digi test says, i think there could be a week in it - but who knows - when the midwife asked if i had dates in mind, i said i had no idea - she told me i was lucky!! :rotfl:0 -

I'll post a pic when I get a chance but it was amazing, I cried, when it first flashed up on screen it was so good, I just kept saying oh my god! it was so active it turned upside down at one point turning somersaults!
only downside was how long we had to wait to see the midwife afterwards, nearly 2 hours, me and oh were both tired after a bad nights sleep and starving!
she put me back to 11+5 (I thought I was 12+2) so new due date of 25th June
Ah thats amazing news - i must make a mental note to take tissues later on for scan. so nervousyou had to see MW afterwards? i thought i just have to go for the bloods??
