Hi ladies, hope you are all doing well and not feeling too rough.
Kitty sorry to hear you are spotting and that the EPU aren't being very helpful. Is there another hospital nearby you could try as I went to a different EPU last pregnancy but have found the one at my local hospital much more helpful.
Hope your nausea eases soon Bumblebee, mine comes and goes but is usually worse in the evening or when I've not eaten for a while.
My bleeding got progressively worse over the weekend, it was still brown but really heavy so I'm using a sanitary towel. It seemed to stop overnight so I went to work this morning but by the time I got there I was bleeding heavily again, so I rang the EPU and they gave me an appointment for 2 hours later - it takes me that long to get there. I didn't have to fill out any paperwork this time except a consent form for the internal scan, I just got sent straight for a scan - this time they did it internally using a probe like thing.
Baby is absolutely fine, heart was beating away, and it's got little limb buds now. They have found a fibroid in my womb but it's only small so shouldn't affect the pregnancy. They couldn't find any reason for the bleeding, but it's definitely not connected to the pregnancy, it's coming from elsewhere they just don't know where. After the scan I had a follow up appointment with a midwife and she said the bleeding isn't going to lead to a miscarriage in my case.
She said to ring in for advice if it gets heavy again, but they don't like to scan more frequently than every 2 weeks as it causes excess heat which is a risk for baby. I feel totally reassured now. It just seems the bleeding is when I am overdoing it. I went to bed for 3 hours this afternoon and the bleeding stopped, got up and it started again. I guess I just need to rest more. They have dated me at 8+2 (by my dates I'm 8+5). The little bean has grown as it was 7.9mm last time and it is 17mm now.
Here is a picture of my little bean - it's not very clear. I was surprised they gave me a picture, I didn't ask for one and I didn't get one last time - I was just relieved everything is OK!
The midwife said that although it isn't that common some women do bleed throughout the pregnancy and it seems I might be one of them!
Aqua 8+5 (until the 12 week scan officially puts me back 3 days!!!) xx0 -
I can totally agree with whoever said eating is good for nausea! 11+5 here (though thats my LMP date and think i am still a little earlier than that at the moment) and have been struggling this last couple of weeks with nausea / heartburn and i have definitely found eating helps..... little and often!0

Aquamarine, I am a worrier myself but all I can say is that if you are going to be one of the people who bleed all the way through I'd rather have it start early on.
The reason I say this is that when it happens, and you research bleeding everything says that in early pregnancy it's quite common & don't panic until you know for sure etc
But when I had it at 20 weeks I hadnt had any bleeding & so it was a massive shock & I assumed the worst. All the websites said go to a&e immediately etc. At the hospital they kept asking have you had this before if so don't worry and I was like no I haven't!!! They told me again it's fairly common but needs to be checked each time incase.
Since telling a couple of people I know, they've both reported they had bleeding too! One at 3 months & 5 months, and one from the beginning all the way to 5 months.
I've had 2 episodes now and I definitely felt at the time I wouldn't have been so scared having it, if it had started earlier on.
Hopefully you just won't get anymore, but if you do and it's just something you have to put up with type thing, then I know seeing it at any stage is terrifying but that's my er sort of positive spin on it!0 -

Hi Claire,
It must have been awful for you to suddenly start bleeding at 20 weeks. Hope everything is OK for you now. I first bled at 7 weeks this time round and the EPU have been wonderful.
I've been trying not to worry this pregnancy even though they are classing me as high risk - I promised myself after having loads of complications with DS (including bleeding from 9 weeks) and with him now being a healthy toddler that I'd try not to worry this time, but the bleeding was much heavier this time time round, and all the advice I was given was to get medical attention if this happened. I have to admit I was worried about the bleeding I had this weekend as I was passing clots, depsite trying to tell myself everything would be OK as it was with DS.
Reading the pregnancy threads has made me realise that it does seem to happen quite a lot, although I'm the only one out of my group of friends that has experienced it. The midwife did say it was uncommon, so I wonder if a lot of the time it goes unreported and it's actually more common than they think. I feel totally reassured now though, because they have confirmed that the bleeding isn't coming from the baby or the pregnancy (yolk sac, placenta etc), so I'm just going to rest when it happens and hope it stops. I've taken today off work hoping that by relaxing all day it will stop. The sonographer did say that because the pregnancy only attaches to one of the uterine walls that it could be the other one causing the bleeding as that one isn't required for the pregnancy.
This morning I got my date through for my 12 week scan - it's going to be on New Year's Eve so 4 weeks today when by my dates I'll be 12+6 :j0 -

had a right sob at work today. got in trouble for being off sick 3 times. not sure what I'm meant to do when I'm feeling so crappy. has anybody else been off sick a few times because of pregnancy related things? how is your work handling it?0

Firey - do your work know you are pregnant? They can discriminate against you whilst pregnant and that includes sickness. I have told my employers early as I suffer from HG and then all my absences are marked as pregnancy related.
Haven't posted much as feel really poorly and struggle just to get through the day. Topped with a poorly toddler who refuses to sleep makes for a fun day.Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. Just wanted to delurk and say that if they are pregnancy related and your boss knows you are pregnant I am sure you are exempt in some way from most sickness policies if its to do with being pregnanct.
I had two weeks off due to sickness and blood pressure in October, and two odd days off and have had these all off under pregnancy.3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

yes Ive told them. a couple of times this year iv had problems with my wisdom teeth so iv been off then which is unfortunate so they are on my record too. she said she would read up on the pregnancy policy but that I would still be getting a formal letter. usually I think i would be not too worried but I think I'm just so emotional today I just cried ha. could do with getting a grip!0
