  • Welcome Ilovelondon. Congratulations. We were shocked to find out I was pregnant too. We were TTC for almost 1 year and I used Ov sticks for the first time on our successful cycle. None were positive, so I presumed I did not ovulate. Told DH it was not our month. When I was a few days late, I did a pregnancy test "to rule it out" and it was positive! We were both surprised but so happy. Takes a while to feel real doesn't it :)

Mr TM - glad to hear your DH's boss was happy for you. We have had lovely reactions from people we have told so far. Nobody has dared to say "oh finally" which I was expecting after 10 years together ;)

Kitty - It seems that most of us have spotting at some time in the first trimester and it is scary but usually its nothing to worry about.

Re: Bounty packs. I had the first one from the midwife at my booking appointment (lots of leaflets and some decaf teabags) and inside was the voucher to pick up the 2nd one at Boots. I haven't collected it yet.

Have any of you ladies downloaded any pregnancy apps? I have BabyBump and it says baby is the size of a lime today (11 weeks) Hope you are all well.
  • Hi all. Hope everyone is ok. It seems to have been a bit quieter on this thread lately.
My scan date is 8th January. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed as I still have no symptoms at all! I'm half expecting them to say I'm imagining the whole thing. The midwife did say however that I would have known by now if it was ectopic.
Carrie, no pregnancy apps here - my phone isn't that great. :-) Congratulations on your lime. I think last time I checked mine was a raspberry.
    Love to all. X

Just found a skin tag right beside of one of my nipples! Eek! I knew that boobs change during pregnancy, but goodness!

I'm trying to pull together enough energy to be able to put slow cooker meals into bags and into the freezer soon. I need quick and easy for now while I'm so sleepy.

Hope that everyone is having a good day. :)

  • Hi all,

I hope you're all doing well. My nausea is just AWFUL. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if whichever chap (and somehow I feel certain that it was a fella!) came up with the term MORNING sickness has been lynched by a bunch of hormonal pregnant women! I barely got out of bed yesterday. :( More like all bloomin' morning, afternoon, evening and over-night sickness! ARRRRGGGGHHHH! And my OH is pretty unsympathetic. He's more of a "chin up and carry on regardless" sort. Easy for him to say, eh?

I've got my booking in appointment early tomorrow morning (I reckon I'm about 8 + 2, but that's adjusted for my short cycle-length). I don't really know what to expect, or how to prepare for it. Any advice? I'll take a list of my medications, and some recent clinic letters for my long-term condition - but is there anything else I need to think about? I've also made a note to ask the midwife (I assume it'll be a mid-wife I'll be seeing?) about the pain I've been having. No bleeding -- but really nasty and severe unilateral pain in my pelvis. Enough to stop me walking down the street and had me collapsed in a ball for 30 mins until it eased. Consistently on the same side. I'm trying not to worry (and clinging on to the "no bleeding"!), but it's happened most days and is always on the same side...

I'll clock in again after the appt to let you know how I got on -- but I've got a busy day tomorrow so it might not be until later.

Hope you're all doing well, girls, and the fewer posts recently isn't because you're all feeling horrid!

  • Hi everyone. I'm feeling a bit rough today. I was up with the most painful trapped wind last night. I had to lie on the bathroom floor at 2am it was hurting so much. So I'm real tired today and I've been feeling really queasy pretty much constantly. Still managed to smash in two peanut butter cups tho :o

Hugs Bumblebee for the nausea. I know how you feel!

I have a pregnancy app on my phone Carrie it's a health & parenting one.

Mine is a raspberry now too Claretsgirl as I think we have the same dates. Have you seen the midwife already? I guess so if you've got a scan date. I'm not booking in till next Tuesday. Wish it'd hurry up, I'm full of worry and I really want to get my scan date through so I feel like I'm getting somewhere.

Bumblebee - I know it's probably not what you want to hear, but the best thing I've found for nausea is eating. I haven't actually been sick, but you're right, the nausea is the worst! If I go longer than 3 hours or so, I'm in agony. I have to force myself to eat, but then it calms down after I've eaten a bit. I've found that bananas are a lifesaver for me! Easy to carry, easy to eat, when ripe they help alleviate constipation, and they have potassium. I'm 11+2, and I'm really hoping that the nausea goes away soon!

For those with trapped (or regular) wind, something that *may* help is to rub your tummy gently in a clockwise motion (down on your left side, up on your right side). That's the direction your digestion moves and sometimes just rubbing a bit will help things move enough to stop hurting. Hope that helps!

  • Thanks for the tip Mrs_T_M I'll try to remember that next time I'm howling with pain on the bathroom floor at 2am :)

Even before I was pregnant, trapped wind was a horrid ordeal for me. Tummy pain causes my digestive tract to empty, so there have been many nights spent sitting on the toilet. I hope that it gets better for you and quickly!

my nausea has all but gone (fingers crossed) but I am finding myself really picky with food, anybody else? like if somebody asked me what I want for tea I just can't pick anything cos nothing appeals!
