Aww FF, tooth problems are not very nice, I don' blame you for being upset. I had free dental treatment without an exemption card during my last pg, actually because of the mc I never got the exemption card and they still said I didn't have to pay. I'm sure your notes will be fine to show them.

I'm also very worried every time I start feeling a bit better, so you're not alone!

Still no scan date here :( I'm feeling so cheesed off about it.

Hugs Aqua for spotting worries, glad you got to see your little heartbeat!

    Welcome, Kitty :)

  • Good morning all. I'm feeling a bit of a fraud posting here at the moment as I still have no symptoms, not even sore breasts. I hope things are ok.
((Hugs)) for anyone with spotting worries. I know from experience that it's horrible to go through.
Still waiting on a call back from my midwife and I'm hoping to keep my pregnancy quiet until my first scan. I'm not particularly looking forward to announcing it anyway as I don't think it will be taken well by a few people which makes me sad.
I went to boots to collect my first emmas diary pack yesterday and when I passed over the form the lady behind the counter announced in her loudest voice 'oh, a new mum to be pack please, Margaret'. Thank goodness there was no one around who knew me. It was the same when I went to buy my pregnancy test. Even though I asked for it to be put in a bag, and it's obviously a sensitive item, the woman left it for all to see on the counter for what seemed like an eternity. I'm sure she did it on purpose too. Oh well, I'll know next time. Lol.
Forgot to say welcome Kitty. x
    Love to all. X
  • Thanks for the welcomes, and for making me feel more normal about being so scared the whole time, I actually feel a bit better about it now but the fear comes in waves!

Hugs for the spotting, hope things are better today.

Firey, sorry about your tooth, definitely acceptable to have a good cry about it, I’d have cried even if I wasn’t pregnant!

Claretsgirl, I think I’m a few days behind you but other than the boob thing I’ve not had any proper symptoms either, and to be honest my boobs are tiny so maybe I’m only noticing that because I’m not used to feeling them at all. I guess we should just be grateful because the sickness could come any day, it does make me nervous though. I also nearly died of embarrassment buying my pregnancy test, was so worried I’d bump into someone I knew with it.
  • Hi all

Another newbie here. Still getting my head around things. Two days late, took two clear blue digital tests, one on Monday evening, one on Tuesday morning. Both positive 3+, boobs sore, no period so guess I am pregnant!! Still doesn't feel real and really finding it hard not to buy more tests to confirm! I think I am 4-5 weeks, but not sure.

My GP dont do appointments when you find out your pregnant, you just fill a form in with details and hand to reception. Guess I have to just wait to be contacted. Feel a little adrift with no info so seeing everyone in the same boat is such a releif!!

Looks like I'll be switching midwives asap. Just called the hospital to enquire about my second appointment (in January) and on my chart it says 'for medical history and to talk out of a home birth.' I knew I'd probably be in for a fight, but I didn't think it'd start THIS early!!! I'm right peeved off now.

The only 'medical history' I have is depression, first baby, and I'm overweight. No other conditions, perfectly healthy otherwise, and I'm fitter than most people my weight.

They'd better not push me too far, lest they find out what an American from the south does when she gets angry... I really do not want to end up being blacklisted from the doctors...

Why not freak them out even further Mrs TM and say you want to give birth in a forest on a bed of moss with a Wise Woman looking after you and only chewing on tree bark for pain relief - they'll be positively pushing you into having a home birth after that! :p
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

  • Mrs TM, I'd be so angry if I were you.
Birdie, have you been reading my birth plan? Lol.
Kitty, I'm dreading the morning sickness. I hate feeling ill.

    Lol, Birdie!

Mrs TM sometimes the best tactic is not to react and say "yes I hear your concerns, but I feel that a homebirth is the right option for me" repeat, repeat, repeat :)

  • had my tooth fixed :) it was one that I had extensive root canal treatment on earlier this year so it was weak to begin with. the dentist reassured me all my teeth aren't going to start crumbling now. :)

and I didn't have to pay, well the receptionist was going to make me but she asked the dentist and he said it's fine, I just need to give them the certificate number next time I go in.

so all is good there :) feel a bit daft for getting so upset now.

Lara how many weeks are you if you don't mind me asking? I thought similar to me (I'm 10 tomorrow) I would definitely be ringing up the hospital and asking if they've received the referral. maybe the letter has got lost in the post? I think we're in very different areas but I got mine before I even had my booking appointment.

thank you ladies for being nice to me when I was being a bit moany this morning ha.

Surely that is not legal to write that on your chart!

The only thing I would say is that my friend has depression and she had to go to the Maternity Hospital and not the birthing unit which is Midwife led because of the tablets she takes. I am not sure what they are but they advised her the baby might be sleepy due to the tablets and they would want to monitor the baby for 48 hours - might be worth asking when you speak to a Midwife whether this one or a new one if that is anything to do with their thoughts/medical opinion. My friend suggested to stop taking them completely so she didn't have to go to the hospital but they said that would be bad for her as she has been managing well on these pills.

I can imagine this is very stressful for you. I really want a water birth and I will be really upset if I get to the delivery and there are not any free! But likewise if they advise I can't have one anyway due to something medical.

I think to write that on your chart is a bit off but maybe if you ask them to explain your reasons and they can explain yours you might get some relief. What a pain!
