Mrs_T_M - you are the most organised person I know. I have two blankets for baby that MIL bought other than that and wanting a water birth I have not had anymore thoughts about the birth. Just to get through it again lol. I hope you have baby at home, with no complications and can middle finger to all those who said you could not have it/do it due to your health.
I am sure they say Homebirths are often the most relaxed because people are in their own surroundings - not sure how they monitor the baby though when your in the water because when I was having DS I had a monitor on my tummy the whole way checking his heart rate. - not sure why. (And do home Midwives have that kit?) At the end of the day Paramedics sometimes deliver babies all be it not expected!
Looking forward to seeing all you ladies on the next thread. Feel like a newbie over there now just like I did here. Time has gone fast since the 12 week scan. xx
From what I've read, a few hospitals have waterproof equipment but most don't so if they need to monitor the baby you aren't allowed in the water - or you might have to get out at a certain stage.
I'm hoping for one too!0 -

This was why I wasn't allowed a waterbirth with DS, because my hospital didn't have the waterproof monitoring equipment and because of complications known in advance I had to be monitored the entire labour.
I'm hoping I'm low risk this time and don't have to be monitored so I can have a waterbirth too.0 -
Good morning all. Beautiful morning here, if a bit cold. Going to have a nice walk into town later and try and get some more Christmas presents.
I hope everyone is feeling ok this morning. Aquamarine, I'm glad the bleeding has stopped. It's always a worry, even if it has happened to you before.
As for the announcement thingy, I don't mind you asking at all. It's a bit of a sensitive point for me. When I announced my previous pregnancy I got a lot of negative and sometimes frankly rude responses. My parents were worried about me given my age and I don't really have a big enough house and they have a very old fashioned view of family. I am not married. I suppose in their eyes my situation is not 'ideal'. Don't get me wrong, they adore DD but this next announcement might just tip them over the edge. I know I will also be met with jealousy from certain people which to a certain extent I can understand but I cant help that.
By the way I had a water birth last time, it was quite nice. I was at a midwife led unit so other than the water the only pain relief I had was two paracetamol! Couldn't deal with a home birth - too many people around. I will need to go to hospital this time though.
Love to all. X0 -

At least if you know what their reasons for being against home birth are you can explain why those reasons aren't valid and you still want a homebirth. Do you think it could be the citalopram? I used to be on 40mg a day of citalopram and was told by the doctor that I must not get pregnant whilst I was taking it, so I waited until I felt well enough not to take it anymore before TTC. They didn't say why I mustn't get pregnant, and I was so low at the time I didn't think to ask, so I don't know if it was because of side effects for baby or if it was just that they didn't want me getting pregnant whilst I had severe depression and anxiety.
What are the rest of you ladies doing? Are you still going to work and running to the loos every few minutes or are you taking a few days off in the hope you feel better soon?

I've went through my maternity notes, and already stuck notes in 3 places to correct things! I have no 1st degree (parents, since I don't have siblings) relatives with high blood pressure, heart disease, or diabetes. My grandmother has diabetes, but it didn't develop until she was well into her 70's. The only thing I can think of other than my weight and depression (which has improved greatly since I've become pregnant!) is that DH has Wolff Parkinson White syndrome, although it's been corrected with surgery. I also had panic attacks coming out of GA from having my tonsils out when I was 14, but I think that was mostly due to the fact I knew NO one in the recovery ward, even though they promised my mom would be there when I woke up (freaking liars). That was back in the States, and is one of the reasons I absolutely hate hospitals. The other reasons is that when my dad had a ruptured ulcer, he spent nearly a month in ICU in Charlotte with tubes coming out of everywhere and it scared me badly.
I don't work, but I have no clue how the other ladies do it while they are pregnant! If I did work, I'd have to keep running to the loo, eating, and I'd fall asleep at my desk.Mrs_T_M - you are the most organised person I know. I'm really not that organised, I just know what I want, and I'm stubborn to boot!
I don't know if the midwives have the waterproof equipment here, but I could probably request it. I know the hospital has it, with the birthing pools in use there. I'll ask at my next MW appointment.
In my opinion, the woman does the delivering, the other person just catches! :rotfl:From what I've read, a few hospitals have waterproof equipment but most don't so if they need to monitor the baby you aren't allowed in the water - or you might have to get out at a certain stage.

Again, I just want to have water available. Back when I was having AF, it was really really painful, and taking a warm relaxing bath was my number one way of dealing with the pain. That and a wheat bag filled duck I've nicknamed my woobie.
If I want to use the water, I want it available, if I don't want it when it comes down to it, fine. I'm mostly wanting the chance to be comfortable and follow my body's cues on what to do and when to do it.0 -
Wheat bags are amazing! That's why I really want to labour in water, heat works for me, my wheat bag has been amazing for my sore boobs! I'm worried about the 'overweight' argument too, being around a size 18-20 right now, but we'll see.
AFM, shattered and am not moving from the couch today. I work full time, and though I haven't had morning sickness I have had terrible diarrhoea - but holding it in while at work means I get awful bloating and pain!! I just remember my team leader saying to me that now I'm pregnant I'm 'bulletproof' so if I need to call in sick I will do!
For those who have talked about depression etc, I came off my tablets for OCD when I found out I was pregnant, and so my GP is trying to get CBT hurried through to help. I hate it when people use mental health problems or medication as a bull***t excuse to refuse people what they want eg home births!

At the moment I think I am leaning towards birth in the midwife led unit that is attached to the hospital, at least then I have options of further medication/treatment if needed!
Having a rubbish day today. Had some pinky/red when I wiped last night and have just browny discharge today. Hoping all is ok. I thought the nausea had died down but was sick this morning so now crashed out on the sofa nibbling ginger biscuits and sipping ginger beer, hope it helps!Expecting Baby No 1 - 20/06/14 - Team Yellow!0 -

That's what I'm hoping to do too, at my hospital the midwife led unit is either the floor above or the floor below the delivery unit where the doctors etc are (I just can't remember which).
Have you rang your doctor or the out of hours service about the blood? If it's red you should get medical attention. They were lovely with me the other day and said I was to ring the EPU back immediately if the bleeding got heavier, or especially if there was any bright red blood. Whilst the bleeding may be nothing to worry about like in my case, I think it's best to get it checked out for reassurance.0 -

Is just browny today, if it goes at all red again or gets at all heavy think I will give them a call.Expecting Baby No 1 - 20/06/14 - Team Yellow!0 -

Hi ladies,
Hope your all ok. Seems to be a worrying time actually being pregnant and all the things that can happen. Hugs to those who need them.
Moonbabe: Hope it all stops soon for you.
Mrs T_M: I hope you manage to get the birth you want. It sounds like your midwife is a bit out of line writing that on your notes. Could you change me to thread graduate on the first page of the ttc thread please? I got my BFP on 09/11/13. Many thanks xx
Welcome Devildolly!
Firey: glad you got your tooth sorted, I had to go to the dentist yesterday, was horrid and painful!
Clarets: I hope people are pleased for you and not too jealous or negative.
Aquamarine: Glad the bleeding stopped. Hopefully it stays that way.
AFM,
I've got a Dr's appointment on Monday, although I'm not sure what for! I presume the Dr will refer me to the Midwife? I think I will be 6 weeks then. I Haven't really got any pg symptoms other than being exhausted. I really hope it stops soon! But on the other hand I guess I would like some symptoms!
Mrs Muffin xx0
