    Hello all,

I'd like to join please - found out yesterday that I am pregnant for the first time having suspected all week. Husband was not convinced as I mostly just 'felt different'!

I seem to remember that somewhere on MSE there was a post outlining the things you need to buy pre-baby and what you can leave until they arrive. Any ideas where it is please?

No symptoms so far except feeling ravenously hungry most of the time (and shattered).

    Hello and welcome violalass!

Regarding symptoms, I'm 8 weeks now, and my main symptom has been excruciating tiredness (overwhelming, must sleep now, can't go on, must lean against this comfy looking fence post, complete waves of I'm sleeping now Tiredness).
The first 3 weeks (inc before being able to test!) i had odd pinching feelings and slightly sore boobs. Then some spotting, sore boobs on rolling over in bed or if they get too cold, aversion to some smells, some nausea.... But certainly not what I'd expected. It certainly is a worrying thing this early pregnancy thing!

Mrs TM - I'm pleased to see you mention waiting till the cord stops pulsing before cutting.... I completely agree, have believed this for years.... But have No Idea where I got the concept from!

Also, I'm on 20g Fluoxetine. My dr said it was best for pregnancy. I began it whilst we were TTC - i firmly believed it would take ages to get our BFP.... So was surprised it didnt!
My dr said there are no trusls re drugs in pregnancy so he can only go on anecdotsl evidence concerning baby health but he says the mothers health needs are significant too. I'd like to come off it before birth. It is stabilising me but I feel perhaps slightly too much if u see what I mean!
Please forgive the badly spelt alias... I am a long time contributor who needed to reclaim anonymity for health/job related posts.

Aww Dusty all my thoughts are with you too. I am really hoping for a good outcome.

Thanks for the reassurance Firey and Mrs TM. I did read that the placenta is starting to kick in a bit now. I hope that's what's happening. The threads I found online are always about morning sickness carrying on for 9 months, lol.

  • Hugs dusty, hope you are being looked after in the EPU.

    Congatulations and welcome violalass.

Lara hugs for worrying about lack of symptoms, it must be difficult for you when that meant things weren't right before.

AFM, I'm very tired and short tempered today. Feel like I've spent the entire day shouting at DS, he seems to be deliberately pushing all the boundaries today - I've caught him drawing on the walls and spitting on the couch amongst other things. OH is not being anywhere near as supportive as I would like considering I'm not feeling well, so I've been shouting at him too. OH says I need to go back on my anti-depressants because I've become nasty since I came off them. I've told him it's got nothing to do with being depressed, I'm just fed up of him not pulling his weight so anything that annoys me I am vocalising. I think it's just the exhaustion making me cranky, hopefully it will pass in a few weeks and I won't feel so tired all time!
  • Hi all

Does anyone have advice about getting through Xmas without telling people your pregnant. I think I am about 4-5 weeks so doubt I will get a scan before Xmas and wanted to wait until this before announcing to anyone. I have three family weekends coming up, and as I have been brewing my own wine for a couple of months for Xmas, it's gonna look weird when not drinking. Have the whole family over Xmas so can't use the 'I'm driving' excuse either.

Still don't feel pregnant. Stomach cramps that come and go, but tolerable.

Hope someone contacts me soon re appointments as the waiting is killing me.

    Hope everyone else is ok.

Well it's confirmed. Hormone levels have dropped since weds so it's a 'failing pregnancy' have to go in on 4th dec for a scan to confirm. I'm ok, I haven't allowed myself to get excited bout being pg cos it's just not 'felt right' at all. Not sure what I mean by that but I think I just knew by the lack of symptoms all wasn't well. I'm really ok though, just a bit nervous about what's to come. I'll bow out now so not to bring the thread down. Wishing you ladies a truly very happy and healthy 9 months. take care of your beans, they are very precious.. Thanks so much for your support and I hope I'm back in the not too distant future :) xxx
