    Evening ladies, welcome mrs muffin.

Hope the spotting clears up mrs t m

Not much to report from me, still not a single sign I'm pg others than a bfp. Now starting to wonder if it's real ha! Got my booking in appt on fri, I'll be 6+3. That feels early, sure is was about 10 weeks last time?

I'm finding it REALLY hard to stop smoking, I know it's soooo bad and I'm so trying to stop but it's so hard. I only smoke 2 a day so stopped straight away last time but it's so hard this time. Think I'm going to ask the midwife for help.
  • Oh, re where to give birth. I had HELLP syndrome with last pregnancy so not sure if that limits my options. Really want a water birth in midwife led centre attached to our hospital this time
  • I agree with Aredenalina. It is good to have a birth plan but you may need to be flexible.

I had my heart set on a water birth with a tens machine until the birthing pool and the gas and air. When we got to the unit the birthing pools were all in use :-(. My Tens machine had got me to 4cm dilated by the time we arrived. I had gas and air but was really struggling as little one was getting stuck so had pethidine. My total labour was 4hrs. I had planned for a natural placenta delivery but after an hour or so nothing happened so I had the injection, another 30mins or so still nothing so another injection:-(, still nothing. I then was taken to the operating theatre and had an epidural for it to be removed. So my planned natural pregnancy was anything. but.
The other really good point is your birthing partner needs to be your eyes and ears and sense any change of atmosphere amongst the medical staff. This happened with friends when different people kept coming in and there was lots of whispering; he asked what was going on and they said they were worried baby was in distress, but it took him asking!

    Welcome the newbies :-)

Still being sick here, had my booking in last week and the midwife was lovely, last pregnancy I ended up seeing about 4 different midwifes but she explained only her and another will be seeing me. Took longer than I remember to fill out the forms and I felt so rough. She was able to get blood quite easily as last time i had it done the nurse told me the best was for me right arm pointing to the floor. Still have a bruise though.

Have decided to tell work as although I only do 15hrs pw I worked Thurs eve,sat eve,sun eve and last night. I called to see if i could take annual leave last night as i was exhausted and just laying on sofa. Figure if they know they may be more lenient with leave requests.

  • Morning all!

Too much to catch up on, you are a chatty lot!

    Welcome to any newbies :)

I have my flu jab later this morning - not looking forward to it at all, I hate needles! Rewarding myself by going and getting my highlights done after though!

Have the 2nd half of my booking appointment this afternoon, hoping that the midwife can just phone up and make the scan appointment rather than waiting around for a letter! I am nearly 10 weeks and really want the scan the 1st week in December!

  • Good morning all. Hope everyone is ok. Welcome to mrs muffin. TM, I hope the spotting has stopped.
AFM having a rubbish morning so far. Argued with OH :-( We've had a stressful time of late with regard to his work (or lack of) and even though he now has a job, he hasn't yet been paid so things are difficult. Obviously it doesn't help with Christmas coming up (although I never spend a lot) and hormones flying around but I've had the responsibility of all the bills etc. for the last few months and it's been difficult. I guess things just come to a head sometimes and we need to rant. Just been feeling a bit taken for granted of late by him and the kids. Anyway, I'm having a nice cup of hot sweet tea and feel a bit better already.
My midwife phoned last night about eight. I assume it's maybe when they have time to do so and are quiet. With others being around I had to explain that I couldn't really talk so they will phone back later in the week during the day. I don't really want to tell anyone until my first scan but may have to if the sickness and tiredness kicks in. No symptoms as yet.
It's a beautiful sunny day here so may get out for a walk later on and cheer myself up.
    Love to all. X

    Afternoon all.

Nausea is getting gradually worse. Still not actually been sick but had a couple of close calls. Finding it difficult to concentrate sitting at my desk feeling rough. I had it till about 16 weeks with DS so I'm praying it stops quicker this time as I don't much fancy 9 more weeks of feeling rough! Wouldn't be so bad if I didn't work full time, I could just have a rest at home and I've used all my holidays up this year already!

I'm jealous of you ladies who were allowed your booking in appointment before 8 weeks. I've been made to wait til 8 weeks 'as there's nothing we'd do differently before 8 weeks' even though my blood pressure has gone through the roof and my doctor is concerned about it. Only 1 more week and a day to wait though. I wanted my appointment as soon as possible so I can get the scan booked. I'm 12 weeks on Xmas day so I'd rather have the scan at 11+ than 13 weeks.

I've been getting weird sensations in my stomach, like something is flipping around in there. OH thinks possibly we're further on that I thought because when I had AF it was really light and not like a normal AF as mine are usually really heavy so maybe it wasn't an AF afterall. I did get a BFN the week before this light AF so if we are further on it will only be by a couple of weeks at most. But that would mean if I wait until after Xmas for the scan I'd be about 15 weeks by then. I'll wait to see what the midwife recommends.

Hope you're all having a good day!

AquamarineMonkey - You are in the same area as me aren't you? i have my booking in appointment on Friday, at least I assume it's my booking in appt. I'm seeing the community midwife and will be 6+3 (I think). Could you maybe ring in the meantime and ask for scan date to be set? Maybe explain you think you may be further along and want the nuchal scan (if you do) - they can't do that after 13+6.

I've had some spotting yesterday and today, didn;t think too much of it as had it around the 6 week mark with DS but it's been getting progressively worse as the day goes on, still not really bad though so I'm not worrying too much. :( Rang the midwife office who advised me to go to A+E today so am going after work. Can't go earlier without raising suspicison. i'm sure all will be fine. I'm hoping I get a scan just to confirm if I am actually PG, still thinking it's all a big mistake. :o

Dusty I hope all is ok for you. Probably a bit late to say but do just go if you need to!
At my booking in yesterday I mentioned my spotting. Midwife said implantation spotting was normal. I explained it was later than that (it was when I'd have been due to ovulate After missed period) and she said it was normal then too. As I think that's at 6 weeks (I'm bad with numbers), that may be what yours is too. I spotted in and off for 3 days but thankfully nothing now for a nealy 2 weeks. Thinking of you x

Thats me added in. 5 + 6 today feels like time is standing still. Can't wait to see midwife and find out about scan. Will be 12 weeks on 1st January so not sure when my scan will be. Hoping first week in January as after that work gets exrremely busy and hoping not to tell them til after scan but if I need time off later I will need to just explain.

Thankfully been feeling ok bar a couple of nauseous mornings but it did lift. Have told some people as due to social commitments it was very difficult to get round it and actually made me relax.

Is anyone else in a state of terror most of the time? I can't stop worrying!

    Snowing here brrrrr xxxx
