Good Afternoon Ladies,
firey and Mrs T M I hope you enjoyed your lie ins. No such luck for me - DS1 woke me up by poking me in the face at about 7.10am saying "hiya mamma". Technically it was a lie in I suppose as we get up at 6.30am during the week. I'm going to try and keep him up late tonight so he might stay in bed a bit longer tomorrow - such a bad mummy!
Been over to a close friends house today so we could have a catch up. She had 2 boys aged 6 and 2, and they both played nice with DS1 all afternoon - he didn't want to come home. It's nice having friends with kids of a similar age - admittedly the 6 year old isn't that close in age but he was very good playing with the toddlers. It was nice being able to have a chat without worrying/wondering what DS1 was up to and without constant interruption.DS1 is now napping on the couch having worn himself out and fell asleep in the car on the drive home. Hopefully this will help with my plan to keep him up late!
Got a gammon joint in the oven and loads of roast potatoesOH will go mad when he sees how many roast potatoes I've done, but I keep craving them so I've done a few extra so I can have a snack later if I get hungry again during X Factor - loving that it's on Saturdays and Sundays now!
Hope everybody else is having a good weekend!

So, DH bought some breaded mushrooms with dip that was on markdown last night for 39p. He went to put them into the oven today, and it turns out that someone switched the labels and it's are actually popcorn chicken and strips! Big win!!! He's also making his normal Saturday night dinner for us - homemade pizza. He makes them so well, plus it gives me a night off from cooking.
I'm feeling a bit better now that I've rested a bit and DH and I have talked about things (he apologised when he discovered that I felt like being a failure about not being able to keep the house clean recently). I'll probably still fall asleep around 9 again though.
I think after the 5th time of getting up to go to the toilet last night I was wishing for a catheter so that I could actually sleep! My bladder is still waking me every hour and a half...0 -
Hey ladies! Can I join in? Just got our BFP on Thursday night. I came off the pill in May so feeling very lucky that our ttc journey was not too long. Per online calculator Im 4 w plus 3 so very early days! Due July 16th!
My first dilemma is next weekend. Got my 30th birthday celebrations with family and friends so trying desperatly to figure out what I can say? My back used to be bad so was going to say on those pills and not much more and quietlybhave some juice....trouble is I am normally the first chucking shots down my throat eek!
Telling a couple we are close with tomorrow as they have been struggling and I think she would click so dont want to upset her. Holding off telling family tho.
As for symptoms my boobs are big and tender and my tum is very achey is that normal?
Bought pregnacare today but took folic acidnthis morning so gonna hold off til tomo. Really hope this is sticky....
Happy Sat night! Xxxxxx0 -
Good evening all.
Please can I also join in? Got my BFP this afternoon, I'm 4 weeks 1 day apparently. Due 18th July. No real symptoms as yet. I've made a doctors appointment for next week. X0 -
Is 7:20 too early to go to bed? I'm sooooo sleepy! Seems that as soon as I get my belly full (with way less food that before being preggo) all I want to do is sleep.
Welcome claretsgirl and decembergirl!
I feel like I'm one of the 'older' ones on this thread now that I'm at 8 weeks! Still strange to think that I'm carrying around a little one inside of me now.0 -
Congratulations december girl & Claretsgirl welcome to the group! :jdecembergirl wrote: »Hey ladies! Can I join in? Just got our BFP on Thursday night. We stopped stopping then too, and we feel very lucky. Our EDD is 3 July. I totally failed to refuse 2 drinks (a week apart) but I was scared of them guessing. Since then I've remembered I'm actually on meds that you're not supposed to drink with (Doh!) so have something people aren't questioning.
Mrs T, you are not alone in feeling a housework failure. We couldn't invite anyone round right now. My depression plus broken dishwasher havnt helped. Sounds like you made good progress today.
As for me, I'm still so very tired. And last night walking the dog I had to put my hands in my coat to cup my boobs as the cold made them hurt so bad! Plus feeling queezy/indegestion-ish today so am less nervous re the spotting/clots on mon/wed, if u see what I mean!
You know this is an alias for me, well i had bad news that a forum friend just died, far too youngit's really upset me.
Husband wants to tell parents tomorrow, which makes me feel sick. Please forgive the badly spelt alias... I am a long time contributor who needed to reclaim anonymity for health/job related posts.0 -
Congratulations and welcome to claretsgirl and decembergirl.
I'm glad you mentioned pregnacare decembergirl - I'd forgotten to take mine today so just have now!
Have you spoken to anyone medical about how many times you need to go pee in the night Mrs T M? I'm finding I'm going once in the night and then needing to go really often at work, which I didn't before being pg, but I don't remember needing to pee so much until I was about 5/6 months with DS1 and he was getting big and kicking me all the time. I'm going to ask my midwife about it when I see her on the 27th.
I don't think 7.20pm is too early to go to bed, it's exhausting this pregnancy lark!
Glad you're feeling less nervous robots. I'm really suffering with my boobs in the cold too since I got pg, I was the same when expecting DS1. The rest of me wants to be cold though so I can't win. Sorry to hear about your forum friend, hugs to you.
We've told my mum already, I've told my line manager at work (in case I faint due to my blood pressure), and a close friend at work (I might need him to cover some of my work when I go for my appointments, which he'll gladly do for me, there's only 1 other person who can cover my role besides my friend and I don't want the other one knowing I'm pregnant yet). We've invited OHs mum over tomorrow and we're telling her then. We're out for a meal with a group of close friends next weekend and we're going to have to tell them because it's a 'surprise' menu where you don't know what you're getting for each course as the chef decides but they take into account allergies/pregnancy, so I'll have to tell the waiter anyway. I don't mind telling the people I'm really close to as if anything was to go wrong these would be the people who I'd need to support me. We're not telling the rest of the family though until 12 weeks (Xmas Day). I'm going to try to keep it a secret from the rest of my colleagues until the New Year too - I don't want to announce it at work until after the 12 week scan, if I can get as far as 20 weeks without it being blindingly obvious I might wait until then to announce it at work.
Well, I've managed to eat my spare roast potoatoes before X Factor even started - an entire bowlful. I've had to undo my jeans. My doctor suggested I either maintain or lose weight during this pregnancy but at the rate I'm eating I think I'm going to double in size!0 -

I'm clinically depressed as well, and although I'm on medication, I still have bad spells. Right now DH is working with me to help me overcome my anxiety of bathing in the tub. That's where I started bleeding two weeks ago, so I've since developed a phobia of it. I did get a bath tonight and wash my hair, plus gave myself a haircut (3 inches off and you can't even tell!), and DH combed and dried my hair for me. He went and sat with me while I was bathing in case I had a panic attack or needed help. I have really bad dandruff, so I really need to wash my hair more often than I am right now. I kind of feel bad admitting that I have a phobia about bathing, but I know that you lot hopefully won't judge me.AquamarineMonkey wrote: »Have you spoken to anyone medical about how many times you need to go pee in the night Mrs T M? I've never slept through the night for one reason or another, and it's mostly due to the fact that I have shortened sleep cycles due to brain imbalances (which is what the depression is down to as well). I think it's more of a 'wake up due to other reasons and bladder decides to empty while it can' kind of thing. I do my best to not let my bladder get completely full, and I try to go every two hours during the day when I can. I've mentioned it to the GP, and he has said that we will deal with it when we get to it. We are attacking one problem at a time at the moment, and getting pregnant has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works, but a good spanner!
I am mostly stable with my depression now, have taken anxiety controlling classes, and am now seeing a health trainer. She is helping me to maintain my weight or lose during the pregnancy, but still get nutrients, helping me learn things to do to naturally increase my energy levels, and is teaching me how to keep it up after the baby comes.
I'm hoping to ask the sonographer to do a quick check of my bladder to make sure there are no cysts or anything wrong with my bladder during our scan, although I have a feeling that it's just smaller than average. I'm so jealous of DH's bladder! He can go to sleep at 9 pm, sleep until noon the next day and not need to go to the loo until he's fully awake!0 -
Hello ladies, may I join you? I had my bfp two weeks ago & by my calculations am 5+1. I'm in desperate need of some advice.
Firstly, I really want a nuchal translucency test done, I'm absolutely terrified of having a baby with downs and needles make me faint. I'll be 39 when this baby is due. But I live in Scotland, and with my first child was told those tests aren't done here. Is there anything I can do to persuade them to use the scanning method on me?
The other thing is: my husband doesn't know. After our first child was born we had an incredibly tough time, we're only just starting to get some semblance of normal. When I spoke to him before about having a second child he said he didn't think he could cope with the stress. I thought I'd save him this worry for a few more weeks since we're due to move out of our flat in three weeks and still haven't found anywhere to live. Problem is I'm getting more & more tired & sore & I don't know if I can cope alone with our toddler & all these boxes of heavy stuff that we're moving into storage (he works really long hours & if he packs the stuff I'll never find anything again). Now my adrenalin is spiking all over the place & I'm worried I'm damaging my baby with all my worrying!!should I tell him?
Sorry for the long post. Would really appreciate hearing your thoughts!Other opinions are available.0 -
Mrs T M I've just been reading on babycentre and I quote "You may also need to wee a lot more often than usual. Your growing uterus (womb), where your baby is developing, is pressing on your bladder, and hormones are affecting the balance of fluid in your body. Although they're a nuisance now, the sickness and the constant trips to the loo will diminish as your pregnancy continues."
That's reassured me about my extra loo trips, I just didn't remember it being this frequent so early on!
Hope you manage to get more sleep soon!0
