Haha, me too FF. Week 5 today
Luckily (!) I've got a thesis to finish in the next six weeks so lots of distraction (and possibly crying
).
Then I will be free from 30th November and we are heading off on holiday for 10 days in December! :j I'm so excited already.
Good luck for the scan on Saturday, Goppers.
Hope you're feeling better soon sunshine.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -

similarI'm off work for a week with OH from the 9th December so I'm praying the scan will be in that week! got lots of nice Christmassy things planned so a scan would top that off, especially cos we'll both already be off. ahhh hope time goes quickly! I half wish I would have found out at 9 weeks or something so I didn't have as long to wait ha.
We have a friend coming from the Netherlands to spend Christmas with us, but between Christmas and New Years, we are going to attempt to visit most of the close family (DH's) to tell them the news. I want my mom to be the first to know though, and we will need to wait until the letter with a scan photo arrives at her house! I'm going to tell her that she has to be on skype before she can open it so that we can see her and tell her a Merry Christmas. It took her and my dad 15 years of trying to get me, so I know she will be happy for us.
DH's parents on the other hand.... Lets just say we will be taking a nice bottle of red wine to his mom and probably a bottle of scotch to his dad! :rotfl:
First grandchild on either side, so quite an occasion!0 -
In Moorgate London but maybe local enough for some.

got my first visit to the doctors next Tuesday so I suppose I can look forward to that even if they don't really do anything...
Completely impatient! I've known for 8 days now and just wish I was even a couple of weeks more into pregnancy just to get things going! I'm 6+2 and really want to go for a private early scan but OH doesn't want to, saying it's not worth it. I'm extremely paranoid about bad stuff happening!
I'm at the docs today, to register mainly but will notify of pregnancy obviously. Like you I think I won't come out with anything new, though I'm hoping something will happen, a midwife referral or something! We are still trying to decide whether to tell family this week, I've had to tell work as I can't do the job I do when pregnant so I feel bad that my boss knows but our parents don't!0 -

I wasn't keen on a private scan so we didn't have an early one, and to be fair I think that was the right choice as you end up at looking at this picture thinking'...well that's not a lot is it!' so for the cost I wouldn't.
We have just had an early gendering scan, at 17+1, though at a place in Leeds - I would recommend that 100% it was an incredible experience. Lovely place with great facilities and fantastic staff and you get almost 30mins with your baby on a big screen right in front of you. So hold off a while and then indulge yourself!

Sunshine unless you have previous problems or are very anxious because of friends experiences or whatever, I probably wouldn't spend the money because chances are pretty good at 12 weeks - and that's coming from me who had bad news last year.
However because of that prior experience we got a private scan at 9 weeks as we could not have waited until 12 weeks, even the 3 week gap in between them was horrible but for us the early one was worth it. And by 9 weeks we could see a little leg wiggling and it was brilliant, we also got a dvd and photos. So you could just do it for that reason if you have the cash spare.
I wouldnt get one at 7 weeks or something as Lush says, you wont really see much.
So it really depends on your own feelings. And if you really want one and your DH doesn't, then unless he has real adverse feelings towards it...well you are the one carrying the baby!0 -
I had an early scan because of my mmc last time. My partner wanted it more than me I was too nervous! I found it reassuring at this stage and due to what happened before but it is a snapshot in time.
My scan at 9+ was good you could see a body head and arms and legs moving about. Before 9 weeks I am quite sure there are just buds of arms and legs and a bean.
I think it depends on the person. I am finidng the 12 weeks taking ages and despite having a scan at 9+ I am still worried about the 12 week scan. Not too long to wait though.

that's exactly like me, I just want something! even a midwife referral or a date to look forward to. iv also had to tell work as I can't give certain medication while pregnant so my manager knows and is discreetly trying to cover me but I've got no doubt people will guess, it's hard to keep pregnancy a secret at my work.0 -

Ditto, at my work there a certain places you have to move to if you are pregnant, so as soon as I move when I go back to work next week everyone will find out! I wish I was back in an office job for that purpose ha x0 -
Got out of the shower and have dried my hair. I think the heat has helped speed up my digestive tract a bit, because now I have horrible gas! I'm due to go volunteer in an hour too. Poor workers that have to work with me today!0
