Hello! Can I join :):) Had a BFP yesterday at 13DPO...so very early days. (Couldn't help doing one of those due date calculators though!)
Was here back in Feb/March - so am feeling nervous and would really like to shut my eyes and be at 12 weeks.
So pleased to have joined the little rush of bfps from the ttc board though! - SamToby, Becs & Chelsea Blue!
  • Welcome sophiasmum :-)

Right, I am getting myself worked in to a right tizzy thinking about telling the boss today. I'm just going to go in and see him as soon as I see he is free this morning and tell him and let him know I do intend to return to work after 6months. Do I talk to him today about my desire to change my hours on my return? I might leave that until closer to going on leave

Good luck telling your boss lushlifesaver personally I'd wait a while to let the news sink in. I'm dreading telling mine as we've already got someone off on mat leave at the moment and she won't quite be back yet.

This thread is really moving now, lovely to see lots of new joiners. I seem to be rocketing towards the top now!

12 weeks on Sat, then scan on Monday afternoon, really wish it was morning... I'm going to be a nervous wreck at work.
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.
  • Congrats lushlifesaver Glad all went well & good luck telling your boss!

Welcome to all the newbies! There seems to have been a flurry over the last couple of days!

Scan day today for me. I've been up since half 6 because I can't stop thinking about it. Really scared something will be wrong...really hope that it's all ok.
  • Hi Sophiasmum :hello:

Congrats Sophiasmum! Fabulous to see you over here too! Can understand how nervy you must feel. It seems such a long time to wait right now. We are considering booking an early reassurance scan at 8-9 weeks - has anyone else had these?

lushlifesaver - hope telling your boss goes ok. i'd probably also let the news sink in first before talking about your return to work wishes.

    Morning everyone,

lush - so pleased everything went well. Hope telling you boss goes fine too. So nice that you can tell everyone now! For my first pregnancy, I let my boss know after the scan and said I'd be looking to take about 9 months off (I ended up taking the year, lol). I think about 3 months before going back, I started the conversations about changing my hours. To be honest, what I thought I wanted at the start is still what I wanted but thought it was better to wait as then you have more of an idea around childcare, if you can afford to drop hours, what days you might want to work etc, so I'd wait a little bit. As someone else said, let it sink in first that you're taking the time out and let them get used to that first :D

faith - Thanks for the reminder. I must remember to get my flu jab - I think early Oct they start doing them all here.....

mancbird - I think it's just the boards. I was following gillyx & Ro and um (fannyanna perhaps) through the pregnancy boards last time and joined a facebook group on the back of it after the babies came along - could we both be on there? Glad you're feeling a little better too. Hope your appointment is nice and early today to put your mind at ease.... :)

sophiasmum - congrats and welcome  - loving the little run of bfp's from the ttc thread too. Long may it continue! ;)

Eiteews - good luck for Monday - my scan is at 9am, but I had a late one last time. Hubby's using that as an excuse just to take the whole day off while I go back to work :rotfl:

laurablue - bless you. Try to relax. Remember that in most cases, everything is completely fine :). Concentrate on the fact that you'll be seeing your little baby today (and that doesn't happen very often). Are you at work or do you have something else to distract you? What time is the scan?

On the whole "telling the boss thing". I've worked for my current boss for about the last 8 years, and she moved to a new area/role earlier in the year, and then offered me a job to go with her, and then only a few weeks later - bfp! I'm fairly sure she'll be fine about it, but I do feel a little guilty seeing as I took all of last year off when I worked for her too and I'm going off again :rotfl:
    TTC #3..........
  • Thank you everyone! Just going to let him know roughly how much time I'll be taking off, rough dates and ask him to make sure he is happy for me to use my KIT days :) just waiting for him to come let me know he's free!

  • Thanks Twigpig. Really hope that's the case! I'm off work for the whole day - I've got my booking in appointment at 10.30, then have to hang around for my scan at 12.30. It's worked out well though as I didn't have to sneak out of work for seperate appointments, I've just taken the day as holiday.
