thanks, I wasn't really upset I hope that doesn't sound heartless but I never did expect more than one so the fact one was there and healthy I was happy with that, two would have been lovely but hard, hard work. I do feel a little sense of loss but I am more excited that baby is healthy, hopefully all will continue to go well until he/she is here
I don't think that sounds heartless at all. I totally understand where you are coming from. Congratulations Con1888 on the lovely scan picture.
AFM I have someone coming over to give me a quote for rising damp and a dentist appointmentHate going to the dentist. Its for the final session of a root canal that I started before I knew I was pregnant. At least its being done before I have a big bump weighing down on me, esp as the last session took over an hour

Hi everyone - room for another?
Can't believe I'm actually posting on here, but we had our BFP yesterday!
I think from looking online you calculate weeks along from the first day of your last period? Mine was 16 August so by my calculations I'm 4 weeks and 5 days. Very early I know and already my mind is completely buzzing with lots to think (/worry) about!
I have a dull ache (like milder period cramps) at the moment both on my front and lower back intermittently - is that normal? No other signs yet.
Will call my GP in a bit and see what they say the next steps are.
Looking forward to sharing the journey with you all..0 -
VickyVics - I had a dental appointment yesterday that was a killer, I had a tooth removed and now I look like a chipmunk and can't quite use my mouth properly yet at all!
becsxxx - welcomealways room for another!
I have my scan this afternoon! So taking a half day from work and my manager will just tell the boss I have a hospital appointment if he asks (unlikely as he'll be at another regional office this afternoon).
I am planning on telling him either tomorrow or Friday - I think I just need to get it out of the way now and get everything in writing. It's that or wait until next Wednesday which is pay day hahaha!************************************

Hi Becsxxx
Congratulations!
Nice to see you over from the TTC thread
Im 4 weeks 4 days and apart from missing my period at the weekend I have no symptoms either
I do keep getting this twinge low down at the front so hoping everything is ok0 -
Becs! Congratulations!! Weren't you just about to go to the drs?! Lol. That's great!
Thanks Claire - actually went to the drs a few days ago for antibiotics for cystitis - obv didn't know then! How far along are you now?
Chelseablue - it'll be great to have someone at the same stage! It's all super exciting but really scary at the moment..0 -

Chelseablue - it'll be great to have someone at the same stage! It's all super exciting but really scary at the moment.:) By my dates Im due 24th May.
Im guessing you'd be 23rd May??
Im scared to death about everything at the moment! Doesnt help that I watched a programme about midwifes last night and one woman giving birth sounded like she was in agony
The morning I found out I rang my Dr's. When they found out Id moved out of their postcode area they said they couldnt help me with anything!
Cue mini meltdown while I sorted out a new GP, went to fill out the forms yesterday and have a new patient health check tomorrow.
Going to casually slip it in that Im pregnant0 -
I am indeed due 23 May - 'citing! (and terrifying - I saw that TV programme was on and turned over - got enough to worry about at the moment!!!)so just called my GPs and it all seemed a bit odd. they said, "nothing happens until 9 weeks" but they pass my details on to the midwifery team (and gave me a number so I can call that team if I have any questions) but basically that was it.
is this normal???!.0 -
Sounds the same as round here.
When I spoke to the drs on the phone they said the first midwife appointment is at 9 weeks
Plus when I'm 6 weeks I have to ring the hospital and arrange my own scan0 -
It seems to be different in everyone's area. I had to make a GP appointment to be referred to the midwives but other ladies on here can self refer to the midwives.
I had my first MW appointment at 7 weeks and just got the letter yesterday giving me a date for the 12 week scan. There are only 2 hospitals near here that offer maternity services and they are really busy all year round.
When my daughter was born I was chatting to one of the MW's and she said that they used to have peaks and troughs 9 months after Christmas and the summer holidays :rotfl: but now they're bursting at the seams all year round! I do know that at least one birthing centre nearby had closed so I assume they had to pick up piecesWhether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0
