Less than 12 weeks pregnant club! Part 3

TTC39. The scan for Down's, called the Nuchal Translucency scan, is carried out between 11 weeks, 2 days and 14 weeks, 1 day of pregnancy. That might be why your scan is so late, but I don't know how far along you'd be by then to check it does actually fit right.

Hi All,
Hope you all had a relaxing weekend.
We had our early scan on Saturday and saw the little heartbeat fluttering away. I'm just so pleased and relieved, and we can be that bit more confident talking to our folks about it now. Will tell my parents on Friday. They're going to be so shocked as they really aren't expecting it. (We'd convinced everyone and ourselves that we were waiting at least another year to ttc)
ttc39 - I'm having my "12 week" scan at 13+2 weeks. They sent me an appointment for the week before but we are on holiday then. When I called to reschedule, the lovely lady on the phone said it was fine to wait til 13 weeks. I too am in the older category but she said I really didn't need to worry about the delay. (I didnt mention our private early scan)
I suppose because we'd already booked the early scan it wasn't something that concerned us too much.
I know what you mean though - you just want to be shown that there is a baby there, alive and well and not just a figment of your imagination.
Hopefully, its normal for slightly different calculations to be made of your DD. Based on my Drs original calculations, on Saturday I was 8+5 weeks, the consultant who scanned me calculated me at 9.... he then measured the baby on the scan and changed his mind to 8+6.
Decided just to go with the flow and not worry about the stuff i cant really control. Sticking with my Drs prognosis for now as I like to think that every Monday is the start of a new week of pregnancy.
Not had too much nausea this weekend, thank goodness. :T OH has kept a constant stream of small meals and snacks coming my way and also have been wearing anti-nausea wristbands. Wonder if its all in my mind or a coincidence - or whether they actually work.
Happy Monday everyone

Just caught up on all the posts as I haven't been on for a while, welcome all newbies. Pretty much all of my aches and pains have either gone or are not as bad as they were. Had my mw appointment on Friday all ok and confirmed I wanted the nuchal scan so now I'm just waiting for the date. I found out at my last scan that I have a heart shaped uterus which explains why DD was back to back, so the midwife has put me down for a consultant as its a good chance this one will be the same or breach.
Told DD she is so excited and started a list of names
We went for camping for 2 nights this weekend it was good fun but now I'm completely knackered glad we came home a night early and I have the day off0 -
How lovely Birdie - congratulations on your graduation to the next thread :-)
Glad you got your scan date sorted ttc39 - one less thing to worry about eh?

Ah a new week.
I spent Sunday lugging a fish tank and various other bits around and then browing Ikea and Kiddicare! think I over did it a little helping bf with his major clearout plan as I am knackered today
We bought a baby carrier yesterday - now I know it's ridiculously early but as bf is a wheelchair user we've had to get use to finding things that will work or which can easily, and inexpensively be modified to be suitable for him - I still want him to have some independence and to be able to take baby out on his own. In fact I would be heart broken if he couldn't have that father-baby time without me.
We found one for just £15 which needs minimal modding so very happy. Now also know what styles we want for many other things.
I have bf and his mum taking a whole heap of stuff to the skip today, a few bits are mine but a lot is stuff bf has accumulated over the last 5 years in the house and has never touched since his first 6 months!
They are also going to paint our kitchen today!!! Now that's exciting for me. We have a new fridge freezer coming on Saturday so we've ditched the fish tank to have a place for that and the back wall will be painted a deep aubergine-y purple with the other three a magnolia/very soft pale colour (there isn't much wall space as it's a small room with cream cupboards and tiles haha). Looking forward to see it done.
Plus now what wil be the baby's room is emptied apart from the spare bed (futon style chair (single)) and our clothes airer plus a few bits to go to my parents!
MW appointment is next Friday and yesterday I took a second digital test just to make sure we were right haha - still not quite sunk in I guess!************************************
