    Today I actually 'feel' pregnant!

Slight headache but tackling that with plenty of water. Was feeling nauseous right up until lunch but still ate - I think eating something always makes me feel a bit better, and maintains a bit of normality in my work routine! Definitely bloated today, my tights feel a bit..well tight... round my stomach which is nice but annoying! Going to weight myself at my parents on Saturday (we don't own scales as I got really obsessive last year when I was losing weight and still monitor it too closely to be honest!) but that's if I can work out how to stop the scales measuring your body fat and body water contents - apparently pregnant ladies shouldn't use those functions!

My hayfever has been fine all year, maybe just one or two days where I've had any symptoms, but yesterday and today it has been quite bad so have made a note to check what I usually take to see if it's safe or may have to get some different ones.

Apparently I received a Cow and Gate pack through the post today which was delivered to our warden as it is too big to go through our letter box... 3 thoughts on that: 1. I don't remember requesting/signing up to anything from C&G, 2. why did the postie not leave it in our meter box as usual?1 and 3. the warden didn't/doesn't know so may make something up about having ordered it months ago for our little 9month old niece! ooops

The only thing to remember about having/refusing the Nuchal Fold Test is that it must be done with in a certain timeframe, i believe before 14 weeks.
If you don't want to have it done then you may find that if your area is busy for scans you don't get yours til later on as it's there's no time limit, if you get me.
that's why i went for it- turned out i was booked in early enough that the appointments were available anyway but last pregnancy it was going to be more than 14 weeks before the midwife said i wanted the test so had to be seen before

    That's an interesting point!

At my hospital they don't ask you until you turn up on the day, but that's a good point for people who have to decide before as I wouldn't want to wait that long!

In my area (Dorset) you need to have decided whether you want all the tests or just a dating scan.

My partner is now really worried about the scan as he is always a worrier. I did not even have this option with DS only a 20 week scan to check and although you can terminate then - I NEVER would have for a risk he had Downs.

Interestingly enough though - my DS was born with single palmar creases on both hands and the midwife thought he may have Downs there was all a lot of running about and panicing and then I was told he was fine (Not that your baby isn't fine even if it has downs?) and he did not have downs. It is a downs trate but DS had it without being downs.

I meant to ask about the exemption certificate at the me but completely slipped my mind! Ill check at my 12 week scan if I haven't heard before then. I'm just due a prescription this week so could have done without paying!

Squirrel, glad you didn't get too much of a lecture - did the mention if you'd have consultant led care? i have to but according to big ladies who've had babies it just means a couple of extra scans to monitor growth - not exactly a hardship! :)

She just mentioned I'd probably see a doctor later on in my preg just to check all was okay. I don't think she has any major concerns.

:j yay!! Just had scan and everything is fine! :D
Measuring on date and everything normal. Saw the wee heartbeat. Finally feel really pregnant - mentally, I had loads of symptoms physically but now I can look forward and not be terrified at what might happen.

    Hi trainer 1!

    Faith that's excellent news!! Xx
  • Brilliant news faithope :j

Welcome 1trainer1, you are one day behind me, I was 9 weeks yesterday. Sorry you have been so poorly. Have you had a scan to see if it's a multiple pregnancy? (Tell me to naff off if it's none of my business :D).

I have felt really well today. That makes me nervous!!

In my maternity pack it says I will get the mat1 exemption form when I'm 20 weeks. I assume that means ill still have to pay for prescriptions until then??? I thought they were free through all your pregnancy?

Squirrel, the maternity exemption form is called the FW8. You can get it from either your midwife or GP.

    :)
