PLMBL - I don't mind what I have but all this bleeding, sickness and being tired has really pushed me but I have not wanted anything more in my life, I am looking forward to having a partner to share the journey with me. He is so excited as well.

My midwife appointment wasn't as thorough. She did ask me about history but nothing about feeding. Maybe that will come later.

I have already gained a stone! I was eight ish and now I am just over nine. I didn't gain weight like this last time I certainly remember that. Its gone straight to the top of my legs and bum. It is fine but I am suprised how quick!!

Birdie - Tell nosey folk like that to !!!!!! off! You can eat what ever the hell you like. How rude!

Becca - How strange that you're having the GTT at 16 weeks. Do you have family history of type 1?

Squirrel - Great news on the scan :) GTT stands for glucose tollerance test. Basically testing for gestational diabetes. It's only done on those with a high risk factor and usually around 24-26 weeks.

    :A Fantastic!

I breastfed by other 2 so she literally just said "are you going to breastfeed again?" And when I said yes she moved on. It may have been different if I was a 1st time Mum or had said no!

    I've gained 8lbs and I was already overweight :o

I am also being sent a consultant appointment for this. My hospital do it as standard when BMI is 35 or more.

I wasn't so much asked about breast feeding as given the hard sell for a good 5+ minutes despite already saying I wanted to give it a go! :)
She did the same to me! I said I fully intend to breastfeed but my DH has a milk allergy that is genetic so it will fully depend on if the baby has that!

What is a GTT Becca? Only ask as I have pcos too?

    The info is here

She said they normally do it at 24-26 weeks if you have one risk factor. I have two (PCOS and mum has type 2 diabetes) so they will do it at 16 weeks as they may need to keep a closer eye.

My BMI is normal (on the low side). She wrote a great big list of risk factors on my pregnancy notes - feel like a wreck when actually I'm quite healthy!

I'll be consultant led as we had fertility treatment, I have PCOS plus many prev gynae issues, prev gynae surgery and once tested positive for GBS.

Faerie - at this stage they measure the crown to rump length - top of baby's head to baby's bum, the measurement corresponds to how old the fetus is
this chart only gives weeks http://www.babycenter.com/average-fetal-length-weight-chart but you can see you'd be dated at 12 weeks if the measurment was 5.4cm. mine was 5.67cm so i was told it was a 12+1 fetus

so either the measurement is slightly out or you have a slightly bigger baby than would be expected for your gestation. neither of which is an issue as long as it follows the same 'curve' on the growth chart- ie if it measures big now it should continue to measure big

Thank you! It's much clearer now :D

Glad everything was ok squirrel... any photos?

Birdie, I've had the same lecture on food. A work friend told me off for eating something with nuts on. She wouldn't believe me that I could eat them and kept tutting at me.

Since telling everyone last night I've had a few ask me "Was it planned?" His sis even asked "Was it planned or were you trying to see happened?" Seriously, why do people ask that? I need some good comebacks if anyone has any? It's not exactly a shock, I'm 28, married, we've been together years and have good jobs etc. Stupid people!

I know I should be posting on the next board but it's too scary yet!

I wonder if the breast feeding thing is new, I never got asked that last year. You'd think they'd talk about that a bit later, seems a bit excessive for the booking in appt!

They don't do them here until 8-10 weeks because of the risk of mc, however the midwife only works at the GPs surgery once a week that I go to so I might have to just get it booked well in advance, maybe ill call up next week.

    Nice scan faerie!

I think my dodgy tummy is definitely switching the other way now! Ill be on the apple juice soon!

I had my first mw appt too today. You would think they could just transfer all the info and medical history from your general notes at the docs. It's quite a lot to go through. I'm going to be consultant led care cos of my history. Would probs have been anyway cos of my age.

Was sitting on the couch today and feeling a lot of movement in my belly. Then I'm thinking Impossible! I'm 8 wks. Since then.....how can I put this delicately.....there has been quite a bit of escaping gas! :rotfl:

Fab news about your scan Squirrel - mine's tomorrow. Trying not to feel too nervous. DH is going to come even tho he is mega busy at work.

Faerie - people can be so rude. When they ask was it planned I would just say Yes and look at them as if they were a moron. Anything else sounds a bit defensive and they might assume it was unplanned, not that it's anything to do with them.

I thought it was a bit much! She spoke to me like I was stupid as well, I know that breast feeding is recommended and all the reasons why, I don't need a lecture!

They wouldn't let me book my booking in appt until 8 weeks either which I thought was a bit weird. Hope you can get an appt. How far are you now?

Hope you can relieve your stomach, mine's a bit better today - Weetabix and raisins are the way forward!
