Tmi but I'm really constipated and it hurts my tummy
What can I do?
I've always had the opposite problem with my IBS, but tips I've heard from other people are:- have a hot bath or hug a hot water bottle.
- drink plenty of fluids as dehydration can contribute to constipation. Warm water is good.
- eat plenty of soluble fibre such as oats, bran, fruit and veg (although this is more prevention than cure).
- massage/rub your tummy in a clockwise direction (when looking down at your abdomen).
- syrup of figs when it's bad, although a couple of other forums are suggesting lactulose (whatever that is).
- exercise to get things moving.
- having a stool or something under your feet when on the loo, as you really need to have your knees higher to aid 'going'. Many other countries have their loos lower than ours for this reason.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -

Oh Squirrel, it is nerve wracking isn't it? At least not too long to wait now.
Faerie - your scan is lovely. Don't worry about the nose thing. Both if my girls I thought their noses looked big on scan and they came out with little button noses
I seem to be going from constipated to the opposite  drank lots of pure apple juice yesterday so think that did have quite an effect. Big bloated belly and toilet problems...not very dignified0 -
Hope your scan goes well Squirrel!
Your baby is lovely Faerie, I can't see a big nose! Have you got a family of big noses to worry about passing on?! My in-laws all have massive hook noses (luckily OH takes after his Mum's side and has a nice nose!) and I'm scared our baby will have the family schnoz. :eek:Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Thanks guys, it still doesn't feel real despite seeing it with my own eyes yesterday! I keep looking at the photos but not quite believing it, I was so worried that something was wrong.
Big noses run in my family, it just made me smile when I saw the photo, it was the first thing I noticed!
Good luck for today Squirrel! I've got everything crossed for you!0 -

I'm confused about how they date the scan.. Do they just go off measurements? I used ovulation sticks and tracked symptoms so I know the date I ovulated. How can my dates go forward a week? - That would mean I had a really short cycle.
I know it's not a huge deal but it's niggling me!0 -
Faerie - at this stage they measure the crown to rump length - top of baby's head to baby's bum, the measurement corresponds to how old the fetus is
this chart only gives weeks http://www.babycenter.com/average-fetal-length-weight-chart but you can see you'd be dated at 12 weeks if the measurment was 5.4cm. mine was 5.67cm so i was told it was a 12+1 fetus
so either the measurement is slightly out or you have a slightly bigger baby than would be expected for your gestation. neither of which is an issue as long as it follows the same 'curve' on the growth chart- ie if it measures big now it should continue to measure bigLittle Lowe born January 2014 at 36+6
