Congratulations Claire, lovely to see you on this thread.

Thank you for the reassurance. I was very close to booking a private scan this weekend but I'll at least wait to chat to my GP on Monday. I haven't told anyone about the pregnancy as I can't face telling them if it doesn't last. Also my family don't even know that we were ttc as I didn't want the pressure. It means I'm missing out on reassurance from my mum though.

Mrsbunny, what else have you got planned for your London trip? I can recommend seeing The Book of Mormon or Matilda at the theatre. :)

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

It's weird last time I was very excited, this time I feel a lot calmer.

Faith - that's why I'm torn on an early scan, they told me I could have one this time but we'll see firstly if they stick to that & secondly I'm scared of being given false hope as last time the baby stopped at 8+4 so I wonder when the heart beat stopped. However, last time I knew something was wrong as my symptoms decreased dramatically so I think I might just see how it goes & only ask for a scan if that happens. If I even get that far, I'm really paranoid at the moment.

Fran I'm so so happy for you to get a good scan xx

Claire - I wasn't going to get a scan as I felt the same re false hope but then I decided I want to know if its at least ok at 8 wks esp as I'm going on holiday. Only to Scotland so not as bad as if I were abroad but it would give me a bit if reassurance that nothing was likely to happen in that week. I keep changing my mind as to whether I would be reassured but trying to be positive. I want to enjoy this pregnancy particularly as it could be my last.

I found having an early scan a reassurance but I am scared about my 12 week scan as I have had the bleeding. Some people it makes them feel better some it just makes them worry more. You know how you feel. It is your body.

I know this is a cheeky questions and don't answer it if you don't want to but I wondered how old everyone is (everyone keeps saying about this older Mum term and I am wondering what age that is!) I am 28.

    xx

  • I was 26 when I had my first and that was deemed 'normal' age. I fell pregnant with DS2 when I was 30 and had him at 31, at which point I was an 'older mother'. This time I'm pregnant at 34 and will be 35 when he/she is born, therefore I am a 'geriatric mother'

You should put that on business cards! That's an ace title lol

    I'll be 27 on Wednesday

I found my early scan reassuring but I had it because with my mmc it was a long time before I found out so I didn't want that again. Think my chance of mc is 1.6% because there was a heartbeat seen at 7 weeks but will have to wait for Monday
