PLMBL - Welcome and congratulations. I hope this is a sticky one for you.
Cherrybomb - Good luck with the coming week. I hope your OH manages to get some time off to wait with you. Fingers crossed that it will all be alright.
Starshining - Congrats on your scan. Always great to hear that everything is exactly as it should be;)
Has anyone else met their consultant before 12 weeks? I thought my 12 week scan would be my next appointment. Now I am worrying that my last appointment with the midwife showed something bad in the blood or urine results. The appointment seems awfully short notice and unexpected.0 -

Nope, don't see mine until 19 weeks. I saw you post that the other day and couldn't understand why they are seeing you so early. Why are you under consultant lead care? Do you need treatment from the start of pregnancy?
If your blood results were *so* terrible, somebody would have told you. Try not to worry14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -
Firefly I wouldn't worry too much, it seems every area has a different way of doing things, I was really surprised by people saying their booking in is at the same time as their scan, I've already seen my midwives twice.
What is it you're seeing a consultant for?

I usually get a consultant appointment at 12-16 weeks .. which I am yet to go to ever, lol. I have just cancelled the one for next week too.. I've had 5 I think so far this pregnancy..
It seems to be the norm here you see the consultant early on and the midwife throughout pregnancy unless something is picked up that they might try to convince you is an issue. If not you see the consultant at 36 weeks then 40 weeks and at 40+9 you ring and they book an induction date.
If you have had previous issues or a few miscarriages or previous problems they do want to see you more.. it is usually just the same old boring stuff the midwife does except you have a 2 hour sit in a hot stuffy waiting room!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Thanks for your replies.
The first midwife I saw recommended me for consultant led care because of a family history of type II diabetes. Everyone on my fathers side became type II between 40 and 50 and I am 38 so she thinks I am high risk for gestational diabetes. They also keep acting like 38 is ancient to be having a first pregnancy. Also I had trouble getting pregnant and was perscribed metformin & clomid.
I was on metformin before I fell pregnant but stopped taking it when I went on holiday and got a positive test just after I came back so didn't start taking it again.
When I left my last midwife appointment she told me to expect the appointment for my 12 week scan next.
Cherrybomb - How are you doing today?0 -
Oh I wouldn't worry then Fire. Nothing you have mentioned would get you consultant care in my area so don't panic. It'll all just be routine stuff
It's good that your m/w is looking out for you though xx
